Okay guys since this is the twentieth part uploaded of Robosapyent, I'm gonna be revealing some important information. No, not about Marcus's dad, sorry about that. But it's still going to be important ;)
------------chapter 10 starts here------------
Several months earlier
Marcus's PoVI watched as the video started to play, projected from behind me onto the screen right above. Thousands of people who had been drawn from their homes watched intently as they looked for a reason to believe our citywide alarm. Finally all of our work finding the pen drive was over, and we would be able to see exactly what was so important.
The words "Robosapyent test sequence 357" appeared on the screen in big black letters, fading away to reveal a laboratory.
The camera turned to reveal a man, bleeding heavily strapped onto an inclined experiment table. His hands shook slowly and his eyelids drooped as he fought to hold on to the life slowly ebbing away.
In the background, a robotic voice asked "confirm test initiation?"
And it all started with a "Yes."
It was an emotionless "Yes." It wasn't robotic in itself, but what happened next made me wonder if the one to answer wasn't the real robot.
The man on the table shook violently, screaming, his eyes rapidly flicking back and forth. His back seemed to arch- almost as if an electric current was passing through it. His hands, initially starting with only tremors, now were jerking violently, threatening to break the constraints.
And his scream? It was one which induced the worst kind of fear. The fear of something worse than death.
And then it ended.
The man who could authorize doing this to a dying man was not just cruel. He was far, far worse.
I was interrupted by the camera turning to reveal a robotic body strapped to a similar table.
"Leonard, can you hear me?" The same voice from before asked. The one that had authorized all this.
The robot opened its metallic eyelids. "Yes, I can hear you. I dreamed I wa-" cutting himself off as he made the connection.
"Why does my voice sound different?"
"You dreamed you were what Leonard?" The voice was still unemotional, unsympathetic. Uninterested in what he had to ask.
The robot arched his neck forwards, looking down towards the metallic body which now was a part of him. He trembled with rage. "What did you do to me?"
"Switch him off and implant the suggestion chip." Make sure not to mess anything up, the president won't appreciate anyone ruining his new toy.
The robot struggled against the constraints, before finally falling back onto the table completely limp.
A man slowly walked up towards the table from behind the camera. His face was hidden from view, but I could see his thin, tall body, cloaked in a lab coat with his black hair long and ungroomed.
"What have I done to you? A miracle my friend. I have made you... A Robosapyent."
Saying this, the man walked off to the side- face still hidden from view. "Imagine that. The body of a robot with the reasoning of a human mind. A robot's reflexes with a human's understanding. The perfect parts of both with the imperfections of neither."
The voice slowly got further and further away as he continued talking, a bunch of words too quiet to hear. But there was one line I could hear distinctly.
"A Robosapyent. The perfect being- The perfect warrior- The perfect slave."
And the video ended. A prompt came on the screen asking if the next video should be played.
Dave looked over at me. I nodded.
And the mouse slid over and clicked yes.
------------ end of chapter 10------------
Wow that was tiring. I could have written so much more on the topic but I got so much work piled on me last minute that I had to cut it short. The next video will be up in the next chapter.
P.s. My exams end on the 14th of Jan. Meaning 15th onwards you can ask me as often as you guys want for new chapters ^_^
Thanks again for reading.
