This chapter is dedicated to AkankshaSharma3 for her amazing book on rants :) finally got back to reading and I'm hooked again xD

(Sorry I couldn't officially add the dedication, I'm not on a computer and the app isn't letting me do it)
------------chapter 11 starts here------------
The second video loaded to reveal a door illuminated in dim yellow light. Nobody there, nothing moving, just a door.

I'd like to say I hadn't seen it before. In fact I'd like to forget all about it. To go back into that rather imperfect, but still safe, world we were living in. But I couldn't. Not now, not ever. All I could hope was that whatever the future held was worth the hardship we were about to face.

Because the door was the president's door.

The door opened with a creak allowing bright yellow light to flood out. And the familiar voice that accompanied it sent chills down my spine. "Come in professor."

A man walked forwards, dressed in a white lab coat with long hair. The man from the lab... "We have good news Mr. president. Project Robosapyent was a success." He walked forward to the president, handing over a remote.

The camera focused on the president's face. His lips slowly turned up into a vicious smile. "Bring him in."

"RS-01, enter"

The metallic grind of parts moving against others were audible as the body we had seen before strapped to the second table walked in and kneeled."

"RS, for Robosapyent?" The president asked. "I was thinking about a good name for the resultant creations, but I think RS sounds so much more impersonal. Don't you think so?"

"Yes sir." The voice was almost brimming with joy- no longer emotionless as before.

"And who is the lucky test subject?"

"Professor Leonard- head of the Flipsyde project."

"Wonderful. It's always a joy to clear up loose ends," the president replied, looking forward with a sadistic smile. "RS-01, shoot Dr. Spencer."

"No, don't!" The professor managed to sputter despite his state of shock.

"Do it," the president repeated, pressing a button on the remote.

Professor Leonard's new metal body arched backwards as if an electric current was passing through his spine, and finally relaxed. He got up, pulling the gun from a slot on the side of his legs, and placed it on the other man's forehead.

Dr. Spencer looked towards the president, a look of horror on his face. "Why?" was all he managed to choke out before his brains were splattered all over the floor.

The president smiled again- a smile which in itself could define all evil. "Didn't you hear me? It's always a joy to clear up loose ends."

The video then faded into darkness, the words "a few months earlier" showing up on the screen, followed by the words "Robosapyent test sequence 1"

"So Dr. Spencer, you think you can make this work?"
Though the person wasn't visible, I could recognize that voice anywhere.

"Yes Mr. President. The calculations should work. In project Flipsyde you'd swap the bodies of two people. I believe that with a few tweaks we should be able to transfer a person into a non-living artificial body.

"An artificial being."

"Exactly. They wouldn't have to eat, just charge. They wouldn't have to heal, just replace parts. They would have the perfection of the human mind without the errors of human judgement."

"And why would I want something like that?"

The question was rhetorical. Both of them- no actually everyone knew that answer.

"You know exactly why."

There was a moment of absolute silence, before the two broke out into laughter. The kind of laughter that would have been appropriate at a wedding or a meeting with old friends.

Laughter so pure that nobody would have guessed that they were planning to slaughter thousands of humans to retain power.

"And I have one more thing to tell you Mr. President. Our leader, Dr. Leonard had this idea but didn't want to tell you. Something about taking things too far."

"Well, we'll just have to punish him for that won't we?" the president replied, gleefully. "Anyways, you have the go-ahead for your project. But if you fail-" he trailed off, his voice suddenly turning ominous.

"I know."

And the video ended. Another prompt came up on the screen- "play video 3?"

If there were any doubts about watching more, I'm sure they were cleared up now. We had to know the truth- the full truth.

And the third video started.

------------end of chapter 11------------

So how was it guys? I'm back to reading again as many of you may have noticed.
