My Cinderella Story

Chapter 9

I woke up at 8:45 and got ready to go meet Riker. I pulled my MTV shirt and jeans. i tied my Vans up and pulled my hair back in a ponytail. i fastened my arrowhead necklace and grabbed my skateboard. I snuck out the door and headed for the bus station. I got on and sat right behind the driver.

"No headphones today Merideth?" He said looking in his mirror.

"No sir it's broken. I'm heading to go get it now." I lied. He chuckled. "Not to busy in the morning huh?" I asked.

"No ma'am but it'll pick up soon." He said entering town. I got off the bus at the school and headed for the common area. The campus wasn't huge but it wasn't small either. The common are had a huge pond in the middle and if you went farther you would be at the beach. I wasn't sure when Riker was coming.

Riker POV|

I handed her the music player and smiled. I still couldn't believe I almost gave the iPod to the wrong person.

"Thank you! My name is Vanessa." The girl smiled.

"Well I'm glad you caught me I was actually going to give to someone else." I said.

"Ya it's my stepsister! She always tries to steal my stuff." She replied.

"So would you like to go to a dance with me? It's supposed to be really formal and I need a date." I asked remembering how we danced all night at the dance.

"Umm I'm busy." She stuttered

"I didn't even tell you when it is." I said knowing she was lying.

"Well I'm busy a lot!" She said running away.

That was weird. It's like she didn't want to dance. Didn't she tell me she loves dancing?

I walked back to my car when I was hit by a skateboarder.

"Woah! I'm sorry!" I said helping the girl up." I looked into her bluish green eyes.

"It's my fault." She said skating away and I swear I saw a tear go down her face.

I drove home and walked in the front door.

"Hey Riker!" Ross, my brother, said. I just nodded and walked up to my room.

Merideth's POV|

I skated to the coffee shop to see Jace. I had tears streaming my face. That was Riker. He stood me up. I knew it.

"Hey Mer!" Jace said smiling. He immediately sat in a north with me when he realized I was crying.

"Mer what happened?" He asked giving me a tissue.

"I was going to meet Riker to get my iPod since he had it after the dance. He stood me up and I'm positive I saw my sister's car drive by." I said wiping the tears away.

"Mer I will take you home." Jace said grabbing my keys.

"No. I have the bus. I will be fine." I said waving goodbye.
