Chapter 23

Riker's POV|

"Merideth are you ok?" I say inching my way to her.

"I'm ok you?" She said nudging her way into my jacket.

Our ski lift chair fell. We have no idea where we are or where my family is. Oh and to make things worse it is getting dark.

"Riker my leg is numb." Merideth whispered.

"Which one?" I ask with caution.

"The one I had surgery on." She trails off.

"Well I see a cabin ahead we can go see if anyone is there or if we can at least get you out if the cold." I said lifting her out of the snow.

"Hello!" An man in about his 60's came out of the cabin.

"Hey can you help us? We don't know where we are and she has a hurt leg." I ask hurrying trying not to hurt Merideth.

"My name is Harrison. I live here and I can get you back to your cabin tomorrow if no more snow falls." He says turning the lights on in his cabin.

I sit Merideth by the fire so she can warm and I wrap my coat around her. I walk out to talk to Harrison.

"So why do you live under a ski lift?" I ask curious.

"I was here before that thing. I am sure glad I'm here now. If I wasn't here I'm sure your girl there would have frozen." He says handing me two cups of hot chocolate.

I walk out to hand Merideth her hot chocolate. She lifts her face and reveals she has been crying.

"Merideth what's wrong?" I say handing her the cup.

"This guy is dangerous." She whispers.

"Merideth he saved us." I say looking at her like she is nuts.

Merideth's POV|

"I know this is crazy." I say. "But he seems suspicious." I whisper.

"Merideth he saved us. We will be fine." Riker assures me.

"I just don't feel safe." I admit.

"Let's just sleep an will get back tomorrow." Riker says helping me up.

"Bad news." Harrison yells. "Looks like y'all are gonna be here a few days."
