Chapter 13

"Oh honey! We were so worried! We got a call that you were in the hospital and rushed here." Laverna said acting like she cared.

"Stop!" I screamed. "You left me and went out! It's all your fault!" I felt Riker wrap his arms around me.

"Hey Merideth!" One of my dad's friends Officer Lukes said walking in not realizing the tension. "You called for me?"

"Yea. I need to charge my stepfamily with attempted murder." I said furious.

"Mer that's drastic!" Officer Lukes cautioned.

"I have proof!" I screamed starting to cry. I buried my face in Riker's chest. He stroked my hair and explained to Officer Lukes what I had explained before.

"I will get the paperwork for a statement then." Officer Lukes said exiting the room.

"Your making a huge mistake Merideth." Laverna hissed.

"No I'm not but I am going to make sure you can never go near me or where my house was ever again." I spat.

"I will make sure that when this is over you will never go to school or anything again." Laverna left with Vanessa close behind. Bree stood there.

"I'm sorry this all happened. I'm glad you guys finally got together though." She said leaving.

Riker's POV|

Merideth fell asleep after the scene that had just happened. I walked down to the food court so I could chat with my family.

"Hey Riker!" Rocky said giving a cheeky smile.

"Hey can I ask you guys a question?" I said sitting down. "How would you feel if I asked Merideth to live with us?"

"I think we were all thinking the same thing." Dad said handing me some food.

"You guys are cool with it?" I asked my siblings.

"We all see you much you guys like eachother. We are closer to town and she wouldn't have to worry about her family." Ryland said.

"Getting a little deep there Ry?" Ross said sarcastically.

"I try!" Ryland said winking at Ross.

I felt a tapping on my shoulder and turned around to see Merideth's nurse.

"Mr. Lynch can I have a word with you?"

"Yea." I said with a deep feeling in my stomach.

"We are looking at Ms. Howell's x-rays and we are concerned about her leg. It has a lot if damage to it. We need to do surgery to fix most of the damage and your the one she had listed as a guardian." She said sitting right across from Merideth's room.

I looked in her room. She laid there peacefully with chords and tubes all over her. "How long will the surgery take?"

"Two hours the maximum. We can do it now we just need your permission." She said handing me the form.

"Let's do it. Just make sure she has anesthesia I don't want her to feel it." I said signing.

I went in and gently rubbed Merideth's back. She rolled over on her back and opened her beautiful eyes.

"Hey how'd you sleep?" I said cradling her in my arms.

"Wonderful but my leg hurts." She said removing the blanket to show me. It had been cleaned and wrapped.

"They are gonna do surgery on it. They said it won't be long and they are gonna put you to sleep for it." I said stroking her hair.

"Ok." She said nervously.

"It will be ok but they have to come prep you soon. I will be right here when you get back ok?" I said focusing on her eyes.

"Promise?" She said sitting up.

"Promise!" I said with a pinky promise.

The nurses walked in and got her prepped. I watched as the nurses wheeled her down the hall. She looked back and smiled.

"Promise." I whispered to myself.
