Chapter 26: Part 2
STEFAN:
My eyes were blurred by irritation as Ken and I stared each other down. His hard breathing, steady contact, and hard face let me know that I wasn't the only one feeling the evident strain. It was clearly obvious he still wasn't fond of me, and quite frankly, I wasn't either of him. Although, I did sympathize for his bad accident, that still didn't mean I liked him because Lord knew I still didn't.
And what made everything more confusing was the fact that he was getting mad over nothing. His angrily furrowed eyebrows and flaring nostrils were the only reason I was feeling fired up, but as for him I had no clue as to why he was acting like a bitch to me when I didn't say a word to him.
Jasmine cleared her throat in an uneasy manner, no doubt sensing the thick tension in the air. For a minute there, I had forgotten that she was standing right in front of. Adverting my gaze to Jasmine, I couldn't help but notice how slightly different she was looking. There was something about her underneath the night wear she was wearing.
Something that I'd never seen before.
This wasn't the first time, however, that I'd noticed this certain "look". For the past few weeks I'd always look and wonder what was it that had her body glowing in several ways. Ever since the accident that night of Chantel and mine's anniversary, Jas and I hadn't seen each other that much and the few times we did, I'd always want to ask her about my curiosity but my better judgment would stop me from speaking.
But now that we were face to face, I was thinking that a time like this could get me to ask my pending question, but then Ken's presence completely came to mind so therefore, I decided to keep my mouth shut again and use a better time to ask her.
"You want to burrow my keys?" she asked, breaking my train of thought.
I only nodded, mentally rushing her so I could get away from this jackass that still had his eyes glazing over me. Her response to my answer was settled as she padded right back inside the house - leaving Ken And I alone - to retrieve her house keys. All the while she was gone, Ken's eyes hadn't stopped to look elsewhere but mine as if he was trying to intimidate me. And because I wasn't about to act like no bitch, I transfixed my eyes towards him in the same way he was grazing towards mine.
And just like what I silently predicted, he was the first to speak. "Still couldn't find the balls to live on your own, huh?" he said with a sinister smirk.
I gave that smirk right back to him. "Still couldn't resist the urge to keep your dick right between your legs, huh?"
His smirk immediately faded and was soon replaced with a menacing glare. His fists were beginning to tighten around his sides, and his flaring of the nose began to accelerate. Inwardly, I smiled widely, proud of myself that I shut him up in the spot. Even though truthfully, I didn't want a fight. Since Chantel was right behind me waiting patiently in the car, all I wanted to do was go home and play with her, but if Ken wanted to start shit, then I didn't have a problem throwing the toilet paper right back at him.
