Chapter 3-

JASMINE:

I arrived at work forty-five minutes later at Sunshine's Hair and Beauty, then parked the car. It was now 11:10 in the morning, and I knew that in about twenty thru thirty minutes, the shop would be filled with clients, and walk-ins.

I pulled the key out of the receiver, then I decided that I'd give Ken a nice text message before I entered the shop. I felt like I was on top of the world ever since he informed me about the two of us going out tonight, and I just couldn't wait. It was on special occasions whenever we both went out, and just like Stefan said earlier, half of those times he would stand me up. But, I couldn't get mad, he had a hectic job, and he couldn't afford to play around.

Grabbing my phone from my black purse, I scrolled down through the many icons before I found Ken's name. Once I got my phone to where I wanted it to be, I began to write:

"Hey, baby,

I just wanted to text you to say that I love you, and that I can't wait for tonight. I already have my outfit picked out, and I promise you won't be disappointed.

Anyways, I hope you have a good day at work, and I'll see you later on tonight.

Love always, Jasmine."

I quickly pressed send, then after dropping my phone back into my purse, I exited the car, and made my way to the shop.

After I entered the shop, I was quickly bombarded with hi's, and hello's, from left to right, and in return, I smiled and waved back at them. While I strutted down the narrow hallway past the hair station, I could already see the receipts from the clients that were already booked, and I instantly  sighed, and rubbed my hair. As much as I loved doing nails, the labor of it was too much, and sometimes overbearing, but I guess I couldn't complain; finally earning my degree in cosmetics as a nail designer was a dream come true, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I loved everything about this job, including the people who worked in it.

In a way, we were like one big happy family.

"Hey, Jas! You finally made it, girl!"

I looked up to see Dre, one of the hair stylist, smiling widely at me; she already had on her wrinkled smocks, with a sizzling hair straightener in her left hand. I smiled widely, and walked towards her to give her a friendly hug.

Andrea, Dre for short, was one of the highest talented hair stylist here. She knew her job well, and always had people coming back for her, but even though she was really good at what she did, she came with a baggage of having a big, slick mouth; that's why people always loved her around. Her ghetto nature, and abrasive attitude among people could be an intimidating personality to some, but she would always make us laugh whenever we needed it, and even though she could be funny at times, whenever it came down to business, she was always serious. Hair styling for her, was like her child; she was bound to put it first before anything.
