'Basically,' Natasha started off whilst changing her clothes in Maya's room. They were both having a sleepover together at Maya's house. 'I asked him out on a date for tomorrow.' She exclaimed excitedly. 'And I need your help.' 'You did what?' Maya shouted from the top of her lungs. It was a beautiful midsummer night. Most of the people were out on the streets partying. 'Yeah, I asked him out.' Natasha laughed. 'Weird isn't it? It is supposed to be the guy asking the girl out instead but oh well. Harris and I are already in love with each other so it doesn't matter.' Natasha went out on the balcony with Maya went chasing after her. Harris was in his bedroom playing video games. 'Isn't he perfect?' Natasha asked Maya as she stared admiringly at him. She turned to look at Maya who pretended to look very confused, but in her heart she knew what Natasha was going on about. He was perfect. Maya also drifted into deep thought whilst she looked at Harris devotedly. 'I mean for me. Isn't he perfect for me?' Natasha hurriedly corrected. 'Sure you guys look like a cute couple together.' Maya slowly said in agreement. 'Aww, I knew it! I knew it all along ever since I first met him. It was love at first sight and we were destined for each other', Natasha exclaimed daydreaming.
'So...' Maya broke in waving her hands madly in front of Natasha's face to get her out of her fairy-tale dream, 'Why did you want to have a sleepover at my house?' She said changing the subject because she found it uncomfortable to see her best friend loving her neighbour. 'Well... I was wondering. I don't know but I hope this isn't too much to ask... Will you support me if I was to be with him forever,' Natasha said looking hopefully at Maya. 'Please! You are my one and only best friend. I need you!'
The doorbell ringed loudly and interrupted Maya's and Natasha's deep conversation. 'Maya, Harris is here. Come downstairs.' Maya's mum shouted from downstairs. Natasha jumped in delight and ran downstairs happily. 'Yeah, sure I will help you,' Maya muttered under her breath. She reluctantly heaved herself downstairs to meet Harris. She didn't want to see him after what had happened on Valentine's Day. Her heart was shattered that day.
Harris was sat on the black, plush sofa chatting away to Natasha. Maya eyed Natasha enviously and entered the room. She was wearing her favourite baby, pink pyjama dress with Minnie mouse on it, therefore, she got embarrassed when Harris looked at her from up to down when she walked in. Her cheeks burned bright red in embarrassment. Harris noticed this and looked away. Maya's mother grabbed Maya by the arm and forcefully brought her straight in front of Harris and made her sat on the black, plush sofa opposite him. 'Hey', Harris said cheerfully trying to change Maya's glum mood. Maya forced a small smile on her face and tried to avoid everyone's eyes, whilst tears flooded her eyes. She turned around and wiped the heartbroken tear of her face. 'Are you okay?' Natasha asked Maya when she caught Maya wiping the tear of her face. 'Yeah, something just went into my eye, that's all.' Maya lied, whilst her voice resembled her broken heart as she spoke. Natasha caught some sort of affection in Harris's eyes as he gazed at Maya affectionately. Jealousy occurred in her heart as she looked at Maya angrily. She had a feeling that Maya and Harris were in love but she tried to completely ignore it for her own happiness.
Everyone was sat there for hours talking about rights in this world. This conversation carried on to racism and hardships from all over the world. Harris was very enthusiastic and he was playing a very important role in this conversation. This would usually be the conversation Maya would join into and fight for her opinions but this time, the conversation mostly just included him and Maya's mother. Natasha spoke here and there trying to back up Harris's points as she wasn't very interested into the topic. Maya was silent throughout these hours. She sat there and admired Harris. His chestnut brown, luscious hair, his beautiful milky skin, his well cut beard which framed his face charmingly, his soft brown eyes which looked more chocolaty every single day, his well built and masculine body which was quite attractive, his cute voice and his beautiful smile. Maya smiled as she was staring at him with love showering in her eyes. Everything that a girl had always wanted was right in front of her. What was she waiting for? Her prince was in front of her all that time. Why didn't she listen to her heart that was telling her about this all this time?
Maya's chest felt really tight and she had an overwhelming fluttering pain that made it difficult for her to breathe. Her stomach felt queasy and she had the chills and she found a thin quilt next to her so she wrapped it around her to make her feel a little warmer. She had lots of different emotions that were kicking her inside her body. She almost wanted to avoid Harris for a moment because she felt a little scared to make eye contact even though she was excited. She felt a little bit dizzy and sick. Her throat was really dry too as if she hadn't drunk any water for several of days.
'I better get going', Harris said standing up ready to leave. Maya felt a sense of sadness overcome her because she didn't want him to leave. She wanted him to stay a little longer. His presence just made her feel comfortable and happy. What was even happening to her?, she thought to herself.
