Maya opened her eyes. The early sunlight bathed her skin as she lay on her side. She tried closing her eyes. What had happened yesterday was something she didn't want to deal with today. Thoughts bit at her brain, forbidding her to go back to sleep. She looked around her. She felt guilty for not telling her mother about what had happened yesterday. Her mum tried her best to try and take the information out of her but Maya kept it in and started to throw tantrums at her mum for no reason. She knew that her mother would cry and would make a huge fuss about it. Maya touched her cheek. She winced. She could still feel the pain from yesterday. Maya had got really angry and threw items all over her room in anger and in result of this she also hurt herself too.

Maya could hear a knock on the door. 'Come in.' she said lowly. The door knob turned and Harris walked in. He was wearing his loose jogging bottoms and grey hoodie. His hair was mess. His eyes were half closed whilst he walked banging into stuff. He had his phone in his hand and walked towards Maya. 'Can I sit here?' He asked Maya sleepily pointing at the edge of the bed. She nodded and Harris sat down on the edge of the bed. Maya was embarrassed because she was in her shorts and tank top. She managed to cover herself with her blanket. She looked at her alarm clock which was on her side table. It was only five am. 'What are you doing here at this time?' She whispered.

'You can talk a bit louder you know. Your mum knows I'm here.' He announced.                               'What?!' Maya shouted.

'Ok. Not that loud.' He joked.

'What happened? How does mum know you're here?' Maya continuously asked.

'Basically', he started. 'Your mum said that after you came back from the hospital you were really upset and started getting bare angry. You didn't have dinner last night and...' Harris's hand moved from his sides and on to Maya's cheek. His soft hands touched Maya's rosy cheeks which had been grazed gently. 'What has happened here?' He asked concernedly.

'Nothing', Maya lied as she moved his hands away from her face. 'Just hurt it.'

'Oh. You should be more careful next time. Anyway, your mum called me. She was really upset and worried about your behavior yesterday and she wanted to know if anything was wrong.' He said. 'And obviously when she told me I was worried too.' He added quickly. 'She told me last night to come later in the morning, but I decided to come now because I couldn't sleep.' There was silence again. Maya's eyes had filled with tears. 'Hope I didn't disturb you.' He said quietly interrupting the awkward silence. 'That's ok.' Maya managed to say out of her overwhelming tears. 'I was just not in a good mood.' Maya lied.

 'Are you sure?'

'Yes... Thank you anyway.' Harris moved in a little closer and Maya felt uncomfortable. Shivers were going down her back. He gazed lovingly into Maya's eyes and hugged her softly. 'You can always rely on me. I'm here if you need me.' He whispered in her ears.

Just as they both moved away from the hug Harris tumbled down Maya's bed due to the fact he was sitting right on the edge. It made a huge thud on the floor which made Maya jump out of her warm bed and reveal her shorts and tank top which Harris did not notice before. 'Are you okay?' Maya asked sympathetically, but also laughing at the same time. 'Ouch.' He said rubbing his bottom. He looked up to see Maya in her shorts and tank top. 'Wow Maya.' He exclaimed. 'You're looking hot.' He praised. Maya blushed hard and laughed. 'Stop it.' She giggled making her short hair bounce. He looked at her seriously. 'I mean it.' He admitted. Maya turned away and tried to walk off but Harris grabbed her arm and pulled himself up. 'You're nice. At least help your friend.' She gave him a small smile. 'I better go and let you sleep.' Harris said slowly. 'Ok.' Maya said whilst she waved him goodbye.

Before Maya went to bed she found a note in her room. It said:

Sometimes, Maya, this life seems like a dream. Sometimes, if someone leaves you, it feels like a dream. In these cases, how can someone stop their tears? And how can someone think "everything will be okay"? Sometimes it seems life has no happiness and no fun. Sometimes it seems every day is a problem and every moment is a punishment. In these cases, how can someone smile and laugh with joy? And how can someone think "everything's gonna be okay"? Sometimes, Maya, the world seems like a dark place. But after nighttime, there is always morning.

Hey Maya. Please laugh, laugh a little. If not a laugh, then at give a little smile. When you're happy it feels like the whole world has been cast with happiness. The sun comes out of hiding and gives life to everyone. Listen to what the wind is saying. Maya those who leave will come back one day or another. Maya, whether you know it or not, flowers do bloom again

Maya smiled at this note and opened her window. She saw Harris stood there too looking a bit glum. 'Thank you my hero.' She screamed happily from the top of her lungs waving the note around. He smiled and blew her a kiss and so did Maya and with that they both went back inside and back into their warm beds thinking about each other.
