The wind howled restlessly and the clouds are hanging low in the sky. Grey and sinister, they seemed to be draining the happiness out of everyone's day. Misery, grey fog had covered the entire atmosphere.

Natasha had called Maya over to a café that was on the end of Maya's street. They had sold the best milkshakes and coffee in the entire Brooklyn. The café is usually filled with old people and Maya and Natasha loved going there. They used to sit with the old grannies and listen to their interesting life stories. It had always smelt of a mixture of jasmine flower and cinnamon.

Natasha was waiting impatiently for Maya at the far end of the café. She had worn her favourite black oversized jumper with red leggings. She had left her hair in a Dutch braid on the side. She was tapping her foot on the floor with her knee high brown boots. Maya finally made her entrance from the oak, brown, old door. She was wearing a floral, coral pink jumpsuit with black ballet shoes. Her soft brown hair fell past her shoulders. Butterflies fluttered in her stomach and she had felt sick, but at the same time a tide of deep anger rowed through her. She didn't know what Natasha was going to say to her. Was she gonna tell Maya about one of her usual branded clothing problems or was she going to tell her about what happened between her and Harris yesterday?

'Maya, Hurry up!' Natasha called whilst waving at her. Maya hurried up to her, panting really fast.

'I ordered us some milkshakes. Your favourite chocolate and mine strawberry...'Natasha said, starting the conversation. Maya took a seat and a long awkward silence between the two of them followed. 'So...' Maya said awkwardly.

'So...' Natasha repeated, laughing slightly.

'Ermm...I saw you and Harris kissing yesterday.' Maya said gloomily. Natasha's heart pulse increased and tears ran down her cheeks.

'Natasha, it's ok! I'm so happy for you! You're finally with your true love.' Maya comforted Natasha putting her hand on Natasha's shoulder.

'What true love?!' Natasha yelled whacking Maya's hand off her shoulder. 'The only true love here is that Harris loves you!' At that moment the waitress brought the milkshakes. They waited for the waitress' leave before continuing with their conversation.

Maya's heart started to beat even faster. 'What do you mean?' Maya questioned looking confused. 'Don't you get it? Gosh! You're so clueless about love. Harris loves you. Not me! Do you understand?' Natasha argued pointing at Maya. Maya tried to deny it in shock.

'No...No. This cannot happen. You just kissed him.' Maya proved hesitantly.

'Excuse me! Kiss him?' Natasha asked arrogantly.

'Yes... Yesterday he was in the corner with you.' Maya protested. Her head felt heavy and she felt dizzy.

'I wished I had Maya... I wished I had!' Natasha shrieked. 'That's when he told me that he loved you. Not me.' Maya's memory jogged back to what had happened yesterday. It was all silent. The sound's of Natasha's sobbing and weeping was only heard.

'Wait... let me get this straight. You didn't kiss Harris?' Maya asked again hopefully. Natasha angrily jumped out of her seat and pushed the table hardly on to Maya which hurt her chest. Because of the pain Maya held her chest and started to cry.

'I did not kiss Harris.' Natasha explained, shouting. 'He loves you! What have you got that I haven't?' Natasha questioned rudely. Maya remained quiet. She had nothing to say.

'Don't deny it, Maya.' Natasha said pointing her finger at Maya suspiciously. 'You do like Harris don't you?' There was a slight pause.

'No, of course I don't.' Maya lied crossing her fingers behind her. 'I don't!' She repeated to assure Natasha.

'Good!' Natasha exclaimed loudly. 'I already told Harris that you love someone else.' Maya's mouth hanged down and dropped open. Why was Natasha ruling over Maya's life?

'You what?' Maya asked.

'I told Harris that you love someone else.' Natasha repeated haughtily. Silence was followed again. 'Did you not like what I had done?'

'No. It's a good thing you had said that.' Maya shouted with tears in her eyes, storming out of the café leaving Natasha behind.

When Maya got home she repeatedly tried to ring Harris but his phone was switched off. In confusion Maya got out of her house and walked over to Harris's. She knocked on the door several of times and then finally Harris's mother opened the door. 'Is Harris in?' Maya asked too quickly without any greetings. 'No dear.' His mother replied softly. 'He has gone out with his friends for an important work.'

'Do you know where they have gone or what time he will be arriving?'

'No, sorry dear. The only thing he had told me that he will return quite late.' Maya looked lost in deep thought.

'He looked very upset and hurt when he came back from college today. I asked him what had happened and he said nothing and walked off.'

'Oh.' Maya managed to say.

'Do you have anything that I should pass on to him?' Harris's mother asked politely. 'No. Thank you.' And with that Maya went home almost about to break down in tears.
