Chapter 4 - Change of Heart

Evie's POV
As soon as Mal walked out of the room I squealed. I walked over to the mirror and reapplied my makeup. Then went and changed into a knee high, light blue dress and put my ruby necklace on. I choose my gold heels and then put on my leather jacket. I didn't know why I decided to dress so fancily but I did. I put my hair in a loose side pony, grabbed my bag, and walked out of the room. I walked to Carlos and Jays' room and knocked. Carlos answered.
"Hey, you look alot better. What happened?" he asked and I hugged him.
"Carlos, she didn't hate me! You were right!" I smiled and hugged him again. He laughed a little.
"See, what did I tell ya, E. Mal loves you, she would never hurt you." he said and took my arm. "Now lets head to that dinner." he said. Oh yeah, the king and queens royal dinner. I completely forgot. Carlos was taking me because he was like my brother, and he know I care about Mal. We walked towards the castles dining room.

Mal's POV
I looked around nervously at all the people filing into the room. Ben took my hand which startled me and he laughed a little.
"Relax Mal." he said and I took a deep breath. I continued to look around then my eyes landed on a light blue dress, Evie.
"Hey, Ben.." I was looking in Evie's direction and he understood.
"Go ahead." he said, knowing she was my best friend. I ran over to her and Carlos and grabbed her arm, which made us both blush a little. I took them both over to their seats, Evie was on my left. Ben grabbed my hand when we sat down and I smiled at him. My heart dropped a little and I looked over at Evie, who was staring at her dress. When i was sure Ben wasn't looking I reached over and grabbed her hand which was in her lap. She looked up and smiled at me. Maybe my feelings for her are deeper than I thought.
"Thank you all for coming.. Dinner is served." Ben announced and I quickly let go of Evie's hand. I looked. Back at Ben and felt guilty, I wasn't sure if my love for him was pure.. But I did love him, didn't I? I looked at the spaghetti placed in front of me and my stomach growled. I started to eat. After dinner they served ice cream for dessert and everyone started to mingle. I staied where I was sitting and drank my water. Ben walked over and sat next to me.
"Hey, Mal... I was wondering if you would move in with me?" he asked desperately and I started to choke on my water.
