Chapter 24 - Poison

Evie's POV
After Mel landed, she let Mal take over again.
"That was fun.. Thanks." i said hugging her. She hugged me back.
"No problem, E. I have to go do some stuff. School eork. I'll meet you later." she said and ran off. I watched her run into the school and walked to the tourney field. I saw Jay and Carlos and walked over to them.
"Hey guys." I said casually l. They both looked at me shocked.
"Woah.. Evie.. What happened." they said pointing to my leg. I saw a smaller arrow sticking out. I flinched now realizing the pain and fell over. It had a not attached to it. I pulled the arrow off s nd screamed, that was painful.
"Jay get some help!" Carlos shouted, but he was late, Mal was already standing there looking at me she bent down and looked at the arrow, then slapped it v out of Carlos' hand.
"GO WASH YOUR HANDS NOW!" she shouted, now I was scared. She carefully alid the note off and read it, then it fell to the ground. She was in tears.

Mal's POV
I read the note
Evie only has 24 hours to get the antidote to this poison, if she does not, she shall suffer a painful death. Which has no cure. I have the cure and will gladly give it to her, for a price.

I let the not fall, adn felt tears streaming down my cheeks. Evie was gonna die.. Evie looked at me with worry in her eyes.
"M-Mal what's wrong?" she asked still holding her leg, where the arrow had been. I wrapped her leg with Carlos' shirt, which he had left here.
"E.. I don't know any way to tell you this.." I said and cried even more. She hugged me.
"Mal.. Please.." she said and I looked into her eyes.
"E.. Your.. Your poisoned.. Without the proper antidote, you're gonna die." I said and cried even more if that was possible. Evie turned a ghostly white color. I felt sick. She pulled me into a kiss for no apparent reason, but there was one. After she pulled out I picked her up.
"Mal.. I don't feel so good.." she said and I felt her forehead. She was burning up. I carried her back to our dorm in a hurry. After we arrived I placed her down and got her some water.
"Evie... I dont think you have 24 hours.. I think you have 24 minutes.." I said and burst into tears, just as I heard a familiar voice.
"Oh Mal cheer up, I think there is a pawsibility we could help you."
