(A/N) I'm really sorry about all the spelling mistakes. Just pretend that they're not there.
Tris POV
I jump off the train and head towards Erudite during the middle of the night. I sneak into an alley and stay put, waiting breathlessly and as silently as possible.
I pull out the communication device, it's a hand sized walkie talkie cellular phone with 2 antennas and a dial pad for texting,
I type a message to Caleb.
Reached patrol for your faction over.
He responds a few seconds later, and my device buzzes lightly. So I'm not the only one who has this bad feeling or doesn't sleep.
Cool. Just finished shutting down everything and moved underground for backup. Will keep you updated with security camera and any advancement. Try to get some sleep meanwhile over.
Ok cool enough, I snuggle behind some garbage cans and curl up as best as I can. It works fairly well, except for the fact my belly is a big larger.
I drift off snuggled in with my jacket, and three trash cans; the communication device gripped tightly in my hand.
I don't know how long I sleep, but when I awaken it's still quiet. A bit too quiet.
I check my device, there are 3 messages.
One- Tris get up! Over
Two- Beatrice we've spotted the enemy over.
Three- Okay all clear now good job fighting them off over.
Did I seriously miss all the action. Wow.
I get out and patrol the streets a bit. Blood litters the floor, as do many Jeanine and Eric corpses, along with a few dauntless soldiers.
Wait
There are at least 10 Jeanines laying dead and 5 Erics.
What
Why are there so many?
Clones? Reproduction with manufactured bodies?
Dang this is gonna be a lot harder than I thought if they're all resurrected and think like Jeanine and Eric on a huge scale.
I message Caleb.
I need to see you like now over.
LINEBREAK
Uriah POV
Chris and I take turns in night shifts.
We sleep in a rather empty alley, next to quite a few abandoned buildings, like ones used to support the zipline. Or others that suffered from the last wars and haven't been remodeled yet.
We resolved the issue conflict quite easily. I just went up to talk to her and it all worked out fine. Glad to have my girl with me in this stupid pointless patrol thing. Who knows if Tris is sane these days. If she's just doing this to get us back in fighting soldier shape I swear...
I sleep soundly, but not for long. Christina shakes me awake after what seemed to me like 10 minutes.
"Uriah wake up. I hear marching!" She whispers frantically.
When I finally sit up Christina has awakened the entire rest of our patrol (20 people approximately)
"What's going on?" I mumble and rub my eyes.
"They're advancing. It's nearly dawn Uriah get a grip!" She slaps me
"Hey!"
"This is serious. Everyone get your weapons ready. We will throw grenades when they march by." She directs.
I pinch myself and sling over my gun.
"Did Jeanine and Eric find themselves an army?" I ask
"No and yes." She grits her teeth. "They've like cloned or resurrected themselves like 50 times."
"That's easy to take on. You get Jeanine all get Eric." I pop my knuckles.
"Uhh did you not hear me?" She snaps, "I don't know which ones are the real people or if they all are."
Before I can reply, she places a finger on my lips. Soldiers march by and I get what she means.
Alternating genders, a flock of Jeanine Erics march by in perfect synchronization their like human robots, headed for Erudite.
Christina gives a signal to throw the grenades. The patrol launches five. She then runs past to the street, and the shooting begins. It's chaotic. All Jeanine and Erics respond to sound and all turn in a certain direction to fire.
Christina fired first, and the entire army turned toward her and fired.
That wasn't smart Chris.
I shoot down many of the soldiers facing her direction. They then start turning towards our direction. Like 180 spin. Yep these things are clones.
Chris starts shooting again from the other side. This is really easy to bring down the army. My side brings down another 20
A masculine voice yells "Retreat!"
Eric and Jeanine, the real ones.
They were buried at the center of the clone army.
How pathetic.
I motion the rest of the soldiers and we chase after them, but they were gone in a flash. Nowhere to be seen in a matter of like 2 seconds. How does that even happen?
Wait where's Christina
I head back to the alley across from where I was. "Chris? You can come out now"
No response.
"Don't scare me Chris. This isn't a funny joke." I break into a sprint.
Then I see her.
She lays face flat against the ground. A bullet buries into her leg and another her back.
I kneel down, "Christina! Wake up! Wake up!" Tears form into my eyes
"Don't you play with me." I scoff but tears are already dripping. She's gone she's gone she's-
Wait
Erudite
They will resurrect her
I scoop her body up and sprint towards the building, while shouting to the others, "Stay on patrol!"
I run towards the door and yank hard on it. Her blood soaking my hand and staining my jacket too, but I don't care.
Dammit it's locked.
No problem. I find the nearest window and smash the hilt of my gun against the glass. It shatters.
I jump inside. The lights are off, the machines shut down. Everything shut down
Where did everyone go.
"Erudite! Caleb! It's me Uriah!" I yell "I need your help!"
No response.
"I will punch through your smartass skulls if you do not come out!" I, starting to get angry.
No response.
Ok Caleb don't blame me if you die the next time I see you asshole.
I leap back out, Christina still in my hands.
I walk by slowly back towards the alley. Tears run freely down my face.
"Com'on let's go back. Erudite ain't there anyways so why should we." I say with mixed emotions.
"But we are supposed to-" The patrol starts.
"I don't care. So what if they suffer. We are going back! Now." I command and start crying.
I walk back towards the train, the rest of patrol follows me.
It's still quite easy to jump the train and we head back in silence.
Rest in peace Christina. I love you. My tears fall on her face as I clutch her cold lifeless body close to me.
