headed back to Dauntless that night, feeling angry yet guilty, but not exactly. In fact I don't know what I felt, some kind of conflict

I did manage to make up my mind to apologize.

So after I returned, I made a trip to Tobias's room. To which he wasn't there.

I waited and waited. What was taking him so long it was almost midnight.

I grow tired and consider falling asleep on his bed, but I try to stay awake.

The door finally clicks and a stressed out Tobias walked in. His face immediately changed when our eyes locked.

"Where. In. Hell. Have you been?!" He says.

"I went to see Caleb," I say, "I wanted answers."

"Well. Start talking, you owe me this much for stressing me out I almost went after you, then find you casually sitting on my bed like nothing's happened!"

It's practically been like half a day where I was gone. But then again who knows what's going on down at the pit now. So many drunk murders and psychos destroying one another. What's gotten to our faction.

"Oh yea I'm sorry about that. And that I am a jerk. Caleb told me nothing useful either. He can easily manipulate his answers."

"That doesn't explain for your weird mood swings." He says. "One day your angry and the next day your cooperative. What's going on?"

"I dunno." I say.

"No I think you do. And you're going to tell me right now or don't think about leaving this room without fighting me. I'm tired of this." He threatens, as if expecting me to respond.

"I came to apologize. And I've tried to. All Caleb said was divergent." I say.

There is a long and awkward silence in which I see him ponder my words, and finally sighs.

"Are you satisfied?" He asks

I shake my head. "I'm going to find answers. Caleb isn't my only source."

He walks toward me, "Tris, why aren't you letting this go? You convinced me and now your like this. Like your mind doesn't function one way."

"I have my reasons." I say. "I'm sorry but I won't stop. At least I have to know who or what made us all so oblivious."

He is quiet, and I continue coaxing.

"Tobias, don't you wonder why we have matching tattoos? Do you wonder who your parents are? What if we were lovers? What if we were heroes? What if you're the biological father of my dead child?" I say

He is still quiet.

"I've been hallucinating in my dreams. I see these people dressed in gray and bloodied. I want to know." I urge. "You're the only one who understands."

There is still silence.

"Please." I beg

He sighs, "Okay okay. But one condition."

"What?"

"You promise never ever to scare the shit out of me again." He says, and comes up to embrace me "Seriously I thought you were raped or something. I searched everywhere."

I smile genuinely for the first time.

"Agreed, and I'm sorry again. But I actually know self defense for your information." I say and bring my arms around his back too.

We chatted about which questions to ask tomorrow, since Tobias said that Zeke was not the most open person. I confirmed the questions that will be asked.
