POV
Tobias leads me back around, to his room.
"Oh you might want to grab a coat." He says. "I'll get you one of mine."
"Why? It's nice outside today. Isn't that where we're going?"
He smiles, "Nope."
So he goes in his room, and I just standby.
I see two bloodied figures coming toward me. They are kind and poised. The woman has many bullets embedded in her torso as does the man.
"Who are you?" I say.
They don't reply.
"Hello?"
The woman speaks, "Tris if you want answers follow us."
I oblige. My curiosity has gotten the better of me.
"Will you answer any of my questions?" I say as we walk. I have no clue where I'm walking, there is darkness all around.
"We have your child." The man says. "He is safe with us don't worry. We take good care of him, we have experience."
"What? Why do you have him. Give him back!" I stop in my tracks
"Trust us Tris. We know what's going on." The woman soothes. "You still look strong and beautiful."
I am in shock for a second. Then I start hearing real voices
"Tris?"
"Tris!"
"Snap out of it Tris!"
Tobias gently pats my shoulder and is waving his hand in my face.
I blink a couple times "Sorry I think I hallucinated."
"No dur." He grins.
"Well what are we doing?" I say
He smiles and takes my hand. Leading me toward the pit.
But he stops at the Chasm. I stare at the rushing waters below.
"Why here?" I say quietly. It has been the most common form of suicide here at Dauntless. Many victims recently probably had no clue what they were doing too before they decided to go for a "swim". Under drunk influences.
"You see the loud waters clear your mind when your stressed. I found it when I was first irritated about my past yet didn't find any leads... You know, when you said you thought I was creepy."
I blushed in embarrassment, "I bet I'm the creepy one now."
"Nonetheless, it's a great place to change your attention." He takes me along the edge of the Pit, on a narrow and rocky path down to rocks at the bottom of the Chasm.
"You discover the most marveling things." I comment and he shrugs.
I sit down on a flat rock and let my feet hang. Water laps at my ankles, soaking my feet quickly with ice cold showers. I stare at the rushing waters, and their thundering noises as they collide with other rock or water. My mind becomes blank for once.
He sits on a higher rock directly above me. I lean my head against his thigh and he smooths and plays with my hair.
"You're right. It is helpful." I take a relaxing breath.
He smiles. "Glad I could help."
It all seems so right. So fitting. Me being with him. But I still had to ask.
"Why? Why do you do all these favors for me when I don't deserve them?" I say. "I completely scared the shit out of you and you still take me to special places. I completely take my anger from mood swings out on you and complain, yet you cope. How?"
