Tris POV

That night I don't sleep well. Who is this mysterious guy. Who is he and how did he manage to unleash my curiosity so easily.

Well he obviously hates everyone, but I still have this strange sensational hope.

There is no way he could be that good at throwing knives unless he practiced everyday.

I sigh. Forget it.

After tossing and turning for maybe what seemed like 3 hours, I finally drift off.

LINEBREAK

I wake up surprisingly early and head to breakfast. I scan every single table, but I do not see him. Oh well.

I sigh and just focus on my food until 2 figures sit down at my empty table. I look up to see Uriah and Christina.

"Can we sit here today?" Uriah asks.

"You can sit here anytime without your other 2 friends." I say.

"Oh they're not our friends." Christina says. "They're 'followers'"

"Very easy to notice." I say

Uriah chuckles, "We wanted to ask if you'd be interested in joining this club we're organizing. We will meet two times a week and just train and work hard to bring back the original Dauntless. I mean no one even trains these days. All they do is drink all night and get tipsy and get in trouble. Like Carlos and Andrew."

"And who else are you recruiting?" I ask.

"People who will care like you do and train for pride and security of the city." Christina says.

"Okay. I'll give it a try." I say.

LINEBREAK

Uriah said he reserved the training room on Tuesday and Friday for 5 hours during the afternoon. I never thought I would say this, but they are actually pretty cool. I don't plan on admitting that anytime soon. I still haven't seen any sign or appearance of the mysterious man. But I force myself to forget about it. I should mind my own business, which is this upcoming club I decided to try.

Anyways I walk in the training room a couple days later. Everyone else is already there I think. Besides me, Uriah, and Christina, there are three others.

"OK great so everyone is here." Christina says. "Lets start with an introduction to everyone."

So we go around saying names, and I learn the other 3's names: Wilson, Sarah, and Jeremy.

I don't recognize them... But of course there is no surprise there.

"Great, so welcome everybody. Rules are simple. We will train hard for the majority of the time and finish off with a little competitive game. I mean competition is the essence of life itself." Uriah begins.

Weird he said it like that, but its true come to think of it.

He continues, "You can recruit new people, as long as you think they are trustworthy and serious, just like we think you are."

Uriah wraps it up and we start training. Ranging from throwing knives, to punching bags, to shooting guns at wooden targets, to conditioning running laps, I feel eccentric. It feels great to work hard again but I'm cautious enough to not push too hard

We train hard for a total of maybe 3 hours, taking small breaks and having some conversations in between. Finally, theres around half an hour left.

Its been the best afternoon of my sucky life.

"Great, so today we will finish off with an arm wrestling tournament. Girls and guys are will compete separately and the winner of each pool will compete again to see who wins." Uriah says.

Arm wrestling: not my best strength. But I'm not bad I suppose.

We do a random draw and Christina is the standby. I get on my knees and do a few stretches as Sarah pulls over a bench for us to arm wrestle on.

Christina refs, "Ready set go!"

Despite the fact that I actually do kinda suck at arm wrestling, I still beat Sarah. I'm just in shape and she isn't yet. It was a rather easy win, but it don't feel any pride yet. Even if I am strong it's hard to tell on my body especially now.

But anyways now I go against Christina. She pops a few knuckles and Sarah refs,

"Ready set go!"

This is more challenging. Christina is very strong. I fight hard too. For a while we just sit there, veins bulging out of our arms, trying to budge the other. The guys finish and come root for us. Uriah rooting for Chris, and Jeremy rooting for me. Wilson doesn't say anything. Which is probably smart for him to do.

"Which of you won?" Chris asks the guys through gritted teeth. Beads of sweat form on her forehead.

"Me." Uriah says.

Well that would certainly make the game more interesting if Chris won against me.

I put up a fight, and eventually she wins. But our arms are definitely both tired. Uriah beats Christina easily.

"Alright since I won, you all have to do something as a punishment of my choice. But today I'll be lenient. Inchworm a lap around the room."

Well talk about lenient.

I finish first easily and head out.

Just as I open the door I hear soft, but definite footsteps. I get one glimpse Before he turns the corner.

It's that mysterious guy.

I run and turn the corner, but he's already gone.

I hate to think that so many loose ends haven't been tied up. Who's the father of this baby. Who is Four?

I head back and find Uriah. He is talking with Christina.

"Hey can I ask you a question?" I ask

"Sure." They reply.

"Have you seen this guy. He has a flame tattoo on his back and curls around his neck." I try to describe

As sucky as my description was, it actually worked. "Yea. I think I know who you are talking about." Uriah says. "Is he really quiet and tall?"

"Yea."

"That's Tobias. He is also a victim of the memory loss. But he didn't recover as well as some of us have. Won't let it go..." Uriah explains. "Try not to socialize with him, he is a practically fearless, aggressive and dangerous."

Then Uriah and Christina walk away.

I want to find out more.

I sigh and go back to my room.

After a quick shower, I go back towards the Pit. I need to work tonight. Once again, I scan the tables and spot him this time.

He sits in an isolated corner, by himself, eating a hamburger.

I take a deep breath. Its now or never.

I walk over quietly and tap his back. He tenses all over, biceps bulging out of his long sleeve shirt. Why did I just notice that?

"Hi." I say

He says nothing, just looks at me, "What are you doing here?"

"Nothing, just wanted to ask if I can sit here?" I say

"Sure." He gets up, and walks over to another empty table. My original table.

I shrug

"Did he just do that Tris?" Uriah and Christina come over.

"What?" I ask

"Tobias." She says. "He didn't kill you."

"No he didn't?" I say. "I'm still alive..."

"He usually will threaten off anyone who comes near him. He just left you be." Uriah says.

I feel decently good about myself. Score for Tris.
