Tris POV
He is quiet for the remainder of the slow punching training time, and we both focus in. Uriah sped up the process and in no time, I was holding a punching pad and Tobias was going full heat. Apparently this was better than punching bags since the opponent can move and dodge. Though I don't understand how. I do appreciate the whole partner generalized training
I have to keep my right foot back and my left up to keep from staggering back from his punches.
"Switch" Christina says.
I hand Tobias the pad and start punching. He is quiet most of the time, like observing my every move. It puts more pressure on me in a way.
After punching sessions, Uriah calls everybody to the knife throwing table.
We each pick a bag and head over to a target.
Tobias comes behind me and picks a knife from his bag. He uses the tip to scratch his eyebrow before throwing. Dead center of the target. Who knows how long this guy trains everyday.
I tune his rhythm of knife thudding out and focus on the target. I check my stance briefly and pick out a knife. Christina stands on my other side.
I warm up a bit and soon its just as good as Tobias. Bullseye after bullseye after bullseye. Before I know it my knife bag is empty
"You're kinda good at this." Christina says
Tobias tunes and crosses his arms looking at me and then my target. "Yea. You are a natural Tris."
I smile, but my inside is blooming with satisfaction.
"Well you aren't all that bad yourself I mean." I say inwardly
He shrugs it off easily, and we head over to the targets to remove the knives.
Next we did some conditioning and strength relative workouts in stations.
"With the same partner, you will rotate through stations together." She says and grabs a few mats. "First station is push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups." She points to a bar nearby in the corner of the room. "Next is conditioning. Running outside. Third is miscellaneous. You may choose to work on any skill you feel requires improvement. Whether that's with weapons or not. Work til burnout. Or as long as you can in a time frame of 20 minutes."
Sounds fair enough. Tobias and I start off in the 'ups' station.
"So we just do pushups and of the relative huh?" I say
"Yea." He says already in push-up position. I do the same
I remember some tips the nurse told me. "You should not push yourself too hard Tris. It is not good for the fetus."
I sigh and change to my knees. This will be easier for the baby.
"You not strong enough to do some push-ups Tris?" Tobias asks.
"Uhh yea it's complicated." I say.
"Isn't everything these days." He chuckles and continues push-ups tirelessly.
I nod and do a few. I agree with the nurse. Doing push-ups was not meant for pregnant women even in early stages. The weight in my abdominals is increased alot. I struggle doing sit-ups and pull-ups too.
Tobias grinds hard and tirelessly. Like he's a muscle machine or whatever. I find myself constantly staring at him
"So you gonna tell me your complication that's affecting you to do an entire station or is it me?" He asks in the annoyed tone he used when I first saw him.
