Evaluation results came out real fast. By lunch time, the newcomers were already assigned to their respective divisions. Steve found out he was in the Avengers. What a name. Being a field agent or a part of STRIKE Team was usual in the academy. Majority are in either both. The Avengers though, was a new division, with no members yet in it. Steve didn't know what this whole Avengers thing was, but Fury did mentioned about the Avengers initiative when he first met him. Well, maybe it's time to find out.
Following the directions a security guard gave him, he got into the Stark Building on the Eastern side of the academy ground. The Stark Building was brand new, there were still some workers doing some finishing touches on the walls outside the building. He can see the insides were already furnished with techs and regular furnitures through the walls of glasses.
"Yeah, yeah but Bruce, what if-" Tony conversed with Bruce but trailed off as soon as he noticed Steve entered.
"Hey, you must be the capsicle. How's your sleep? Nice to meet you by the way, this is my friend Bruce and you know who I am," Tony greeted walking even closer to Steve.
"Nice to meet you too, Stark," just as Steve said that, someone landed right in front of Tony, dropping from the ceilings, breaking the freshly painted roofs. He had a bow and arrow.
"Barton, you obviously have no regard for building maintenance," Tony protested.
"Hi to you too Stark," the guy said as he turned around and saw Steve, "we haven't met, I'm Clint," he offered his hand, Steve took it and shook it. "Steve Rogers."
As Clint went to greet a brunette, the gorgeous redhead with the confident stride who captured Steve's attention earlier that day, walked towards him again with that smirk. Damn her and her smirks. "How's it feel, almost getting your butt kicked by a girl?" She teased.
"I was holding my punches, if i didn't it would be the other way around. I could actually send a punching bag flying with one punch or knock a man twice your size with just a hit," Steve said defending himself, shy from her teasing.
"Oh, I'm Steve Rogers by the way, and you are?" He asked.
"Unimpressed."
"That's cold," another guy who's standing nearby them commented and offered his hand to Steve and the redhead.
"Sam Wilson.""Steve Rogers."
Before the redhead was about to introduce herself to this Sam guy, Fury went inside. His voice loud and clear.
"Avengers, well done, you are chosen to be a part of a team our previous students failed to be a part of. This building funded by Stark is specialized for the use of the Avengers only. The lab's in the basement, gym and training room is on the first, kitchen and dining second, meeting and joint living room third, fourth and fifth are your rooms. Maximoff, Romanoff, Rogers, Barton on the fifth. Rest of you on the fourth. But if you break or tear this place apart, then i'll be damn sure I'll get your ass kicked." Fury said strictly.
"The Avengers Initiative is S.H.I.E.L.D's project to gather enhanced individuals to protect the Earth from threats especially since the alien incursion in New Mexico and the appearance of Asgardian demigod Thor, who will soon be joining us. Barton and Romanoff are already an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, but considering their outstanding skills, I've elected to put their asses back here in the academy and train with the others. First training starts tomorrow at 8 AM sharp, i won't tolerate any tardiness," he told them,"and I'll need to see Rogers and Romanoff after this, you are dismissed."
"You need me, sir?" Romanoff asked Fury.
"Agent Romanoff, I'll need you to take Captain Rogers here to Vault-B so he can get his belongings and costume back," he said gesturing to Steve.
"Is that all, sir?"
"Yes."
She walked out and led their way to Vault-B which was on the other side of the academy.
"There was quite a buzz, finding you in the ice. I thought Coulson was gonna swoon. Did he asked you to sign his Captain America trading cards?" She asked trying to break the silence.
"Trading cards?"
"They're vintage, he's very proud. The name's Natasha Romanoff by the way," she finally said a soft smile.
"About damn time you tell me your name," he gave a smile too. But damn that smile and smirk of hers, which reached up until her eyes, making the green orbs even more beautiful. Her hair too, that fiery red hair of hers, which is worth daydreaming for.
The sound of metal doors opening brought Steve back from his thoughts. He walked in the vault, and there it was, his costume and his vibranium shield. He stood and stared at those for awhile, not believing that it actually survived with him.
"If you need me, I'll be back at Stark Building, see you later Rogers," she said as she walked away.
"Yeah, see you later Romanoff." 'Later' better be real soon, because gosh how he wished to spend more time with Natasha.
