With the pressure on her neck, her feet off the ground, she felt something sharp, a needle, puncturing the skin of her neck. Her hands bolted to her neck to take it off her neck, but he was stronger than her and she was losing her breathe.
"Put her down!" Steve shouted as he hurriedly entered the room, just as he asked, James dropped her to the floor. Her eyes closed, unconscious.
He ran towards her as fast as he could, as if she was the finish line of a race. Wanda's eyes gleamed red, "it isn't him," she told them as she waved her hand at him and he was snapped back into real James.
"Natalia!" He exclaimed as he saw her on the ground, he tried to approach her but Steve was furious.
"Get away from her!" He shouted, his voice boomed, the others was surprised by his rage,"if you touch her, you are not going to live," he threatened. The rest of them watched, speechless. Confused.
Steve kneeled by Natasha and lifted her head and places it on his lap. He found weak pulse on her neck, as he gently shook her head, hoping she'd wake up, "Natasha, Tasha, Natasha, wake up, Nat. Natasha," he said as his voice begin to crack.
"Bruce! Help her! Tony get some doctors down here," he demanded, and Bruce rushed to his side and examined Natasha.
"What the hell did you do to her, Barnes?!" He looked at him with raging furious eyes, someone had hurt her, and he had to know why.
"I-I don't know. It wasn't me. You don't understand," he explained.
"Quit shitting me, Barnes. We saw what you did! Tony get the surveillance on!"
"Uh I can't. Something's wrong Jarvis isn't responding to any of my commands," Tony said as he furiously tapped at his tablet.
A loud shriek echoed the room. Booming through the speakers all over.
"Avengers," the voice said, Russian accent was clearly audible. James muttered something under his breathe, oh he sure must know who this was.
"Who are you?! What do you want?!" Steve shouted at the voice. Wanda's eyes gleamed red once more, but she couldn't find a thing.
"Ah, the great Captain, how do you do?" It said and gave a dark chuckle,"I'm surprised you've captivated Natalia's heart. I always told her love is a weakness. You taught her otherwise. Look at her now, weak and vulnerable, because of you."
"What did you do?!Who are you?!" Steve demanded.
"I am Ivan. I want Natalia back. You see I have pulled some strings to make this happen, that Carter girl, letting James escape, but triggering his program after. You see, Captain. The only way to keep her alive is to bring her back to me. Only I know the antidote to cure her. If you value her life Captain, take her to me," he said and gave another chuckle and the line went silent.
"Barnes, who the hell is that?" Tony asked him.
"He's our handler, he took care of Natasha as his own. I didn't know they let me escape because of this. I didn't know. You've got to believe me. I truly came her to find her and not hurt her," he explained. Everybody looked at Wanda, asking for confirmation.
"He's being honest," she said.
"Can anybody pay attention to Natasha?! She's unconscious damn it!" Steve shouted at the rest and everybody rushed to his side.

The redhead was brought to the med bay, IVs connected here and there, oxygen channeled through her nose, supporting her alive. A hoard of doctors surrounding her, but none had a clue what was happening."Is that what you got? 'We'll try our best to keep her alive?' You people are doctors damnit, do something," Steve was furious at a doctor who told him her conditions. His loud voice caught Bruce's attention, who tried to calm Steve down.
"Steve, I know it's hard for you, it's hard for all of us. As of now, we need to do more research on her condition. If we work fast enough, we'd get her blood result and we can analyze it soon. If it makes you feel better, she's in good hands. Fury gave me full authority for her care, and I'm dismissing some of the not really useful doctors," Bruce assured him, giving his shoulder a little pat.
"Promise me, she'll be alright," Steve said in a soft voice, almost a whisper.
"Steve, that I can't-" the doctor said.
"Promise me, she'll be fine Bruce!" He said a bit louder this time.
"I promise, Steve. I promise. Now you can wait here until they're done taking her samples."
This is all his fault, he kept telling himself. No need to recap all the things he'd done, but he certainly felt it was his fault. He had not spoken to anyone but Bruce and the doctors, and so are the rest of the team. Quiet, as they waited for Natasha. If only they had not been so chaotic, and stayed together as a team. This would not have happened. Natasha would stay. Natasha would be safe and sound. The team would be happy.
Sadly, they all know they aren't living in a fairytale world where everything goes into a happy ending.
"Wake up, Natasha," Steve prayed as he sat down by the window of the med room, glancing back once in a while to see her condition. It was so hard to see her so vulnerable and weak, wherein everyday she was strong and independent. The fact frightens even more when he realized he was the reason she was laying in a bed with life support machines while she should've been somewhere with him binge watching any series they could find on the TV or somewhere where she'd make witty remarks of his 'grandpa clothes' or somewhere when they'd listened to music as she waited patiently as he sketched on something or somewhere in the building continuously chasing Clint for pranking her.
He want her back.
