It was well past 10 at night, Natasha had gone to bed and Steve was cleaning up the kitchen, a chore he does every single day.
"Wanda? You're back early," he asked as the brunette walked past him in the kitchen. She wasn't supposed to be back now, she was sent to the Xavier's Institute for Gifted Youngsters a few days ago, so Professor X can give her the training she requires.
"Is everything okay? The professor told me he felt there was something wrong between you guys, especially Natasha, what happened?" She asked.
"She was-"
"Captain Rogers, Miss Maximoff, I am sorry to interrupt, but I believe Agent Romanoff is having trouble sleeping, I detected an increase in her heartbeat and she have been thrashing around for the past minute," Jarvis informed. Steve and Wanda quickly rushed to her room, bolted through the door and into the dark room. There she was, sweating, tossing and turning, sheets all messed up, muttering things he couldn't understand, but Wanda seem to.
"Natasha? Nat? Natasha, wake up!" Steve tried to shake her in his arms but she still wasn't awake. Wanda put both of her hands gently on Natasha's head, all the while closing her eyes. She pulled back quickly eyes widened. Quickly, she did some gestures with her hands on the sides of her head, and then the muttering and thrashing stopped.
"What did you do?" Steve asked, amazed at what she actually did to Natasha.
"She was having a nightmare, a really bad one, I'm guessing it's about her past," she said stuttering on the last phrase, "so I gave her a vision."
"What vision?" Steve was curious, really.
Wand raised up her hand so it was right in front of her and she did some similar gestures and tossed the visions into his head, showing him what she gave Nat.
The room was dark, Natasha was asleep, but she was tossing and turning, sweat trickling all over. She was having a bad dream. From beside her, Steve tapped on her shoulder gently and whispered softly, "hey, it's okay, it's just a bad dream, it's just another nightmare. I'm here," and kissed her forehead, putting back strands of red hair that was out of place.
Then Steve was back to reality, Steve didn't think that Wanda would give such visions, he thought she would give something more like a field of roses or a beautiful spectrum of rainbows.
"I gave her that, because I could see how she really is at ease, when you're around, like she's comforted. I've seen that since long, first look into her head and I know it. Even without mind reading I can see it from how she acts, Steve. It's obvious."
It's obvious. What did she meant by that what's obvious? Steve wondered as Wanda gave a last look at Natasha and left the room. He looked down to see a sleeping redhead on his arms, smiling fondly in her sleep. How beautiful.

Early in the morning, Steve didn't woke her up, so she was up a bit late. Steve and Wanda was in the kitchen catching up with stuff when Natasha walked in with her usual training attire."You good, Nat?" Steve asked her, checking if she still had some trouble.
"Yeah, I guess, I had this terrible nightmare last night."
"Yeah? You wanna share it?" Steve asked her, looking at Wanda, acting as if he don't know a thing. She took a seat beside Wanda and told them her nightmare.
"It was about James, and the Red Room. It all seemed so vivid, when they took James away from me, the pain, it was there. There was this one bit that was just like a flashback of my Red Room days, it felt so real."
"But you're okay now, right? I heard yesterday's problems from Steve, you're doing well, right?" Wanda asked her, taking a cup, poured in coffee and passed it to Natasha.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine," she said looking at Steve, from the look, Wanda knew she desperately needed to talk to Steve. Alone.
"I'm gonna go to my room first," Wanda excused herself, leaving the two some private space to talk.
"You're still thinking about him?" Steve asked, a bit of pain struck his heart though considering she didn't mention the part where she dreamt about him.
Natasha didn't want to admit but she actually was still thinking of him,so she bit her lip and nodded her head looking down on her coffee.
"You wanna talk to him?"
"I guess that isn't a good idea, is it? What if I ended up weeping all over again?"
"I'll accompany you." He said.
Nat lifted her head and looked at him, "you sure? I mean I- I don't want things between us and between you and him gets awkward because of me."
"He doesn't remember me so that's fine."
"Okay, then."

Right when they were about to go to Fury's office to have his permission to see Barnes, Fury himself walked right into the facility and into the shared common room.
"Avengers, there will be another person who would be staying and training here with you. As much as the risks I take to make this decision, I decided this is for the best."
"And who might it be?" Thor asked.
"James Buchanan Barnes." All eyes widened, mouths gaping.
"You mean that crazy ass guy who nearly killed Nat and Steve?" Tony said,"okay what?!"
Nat and Steve looked at each other both surprised at Fury's decision.
"He and I made a deal," Fury said, awhile projecting something onto the hologram. Then a recording played.
"Why did you attack us, Mr. Barnes?" The interrogator asked, Fury standing with him, watching the whole situation.
"I didn't mean to, I found out that Natalia was here, so I lured you and her out."
"Why?"
"Because I need to see her again, please. I didn't mean to be a threat. I'll do anything just please let me see her."
Fury was seen whispering something to the interrogator, then he said, "Alright, Mr Barnes, how about we make a deal. You get to see her, but you should work for us in the Avengers, a group of remarkable people meant to protect the world. If you show any signs of treat, you get back in here. Do we have a deal, Mr Barnes?"
"Deal."
The recording stopped and Fury spoke again, "Barnes can be a valuable asset with remarkable skills like you, so it is best if you work with him to make a stronger team. He will be moved here in an hour, no objections."
Steve was about to get Natasha's heart. Natasha was about to realize her feelings towards him. Everything seemed to be going well at first for Steve. But then, his bestfriend, her old flame is back in her life, giving Steve another competition to get Natasha. Oh this is getting rougher and rougher each day.
