Chapter 30

"Ahem," I cleared my throat after washing the dishes. Apparently, that caught Cody's attention. I didn't even know why I cleared my throat for! Plus, I didn't want Cody's gaze on me...presently.

"Anything wrong, babe?" He asked, observing my expression. Ah! You should know he's rather good at reading minds, just uber lousy at reading expressions, yeah? Yeah.

Block, block, block the mind, blocking down the nerves. Merrily, merrily, I can't think, better close my eyes. Oh, I mentally sung that in the, Row your boat's tune.

Okay, eyes closed. Cody, stop staring. I, can feel!

"Baby, if you're not gonna tell me, I'm gonna bring the kids down and take advantage of the girls' squeals, and the boys' whines," he sternly said with his arms crossed, and his left leg over his right.

"Um, actually, you, heheheknow how I canbereally random at times so I justhehehe clearedmythroat a little," I giggled nervously between words.

He raised an eyebrow, "Come again?"

I sighed in defeat. "Me, was being random, got that?"

"Ohhh! You were being random...got it." He laughed and shook his head. If I can understand his words in a quick speed, why can't he? Weirdo.

I pulled my lips into a straight line and walked out of the kitchen.

"First of all, I'm not impossible," I held my index finger up, "second of all, I. am. awesome," then I held my middle finger up, "third of all, see what my fingers made - a peace sign! Continue retorting, and I'll slap you." I rolled my eyes at Cody.

"Nuh-uh," he went on, "First of all, you're impossible," then he squinted his eyes, "second of all, you're totally amazing - nothing to say about that, though," he scoffed, "and I still have nothing to say about your "third of all"..." He added the air quotes.

I was confused about what he just said. "Come again?"

"Come again...what?" He blinked his eyes thrice in a second. "Oh! Uh, I forgot what I just said..."

I grinned. "Yeah, this was the Cody I met years ago."

"Mommy, Daddy, I can't sleep," Esther quietly said from the hallway.

Cody and I stood up at the same time and spun around. "Why not?" The both of us coincidentally asked at the same time...again.

"I dunno," she shrugged her shoulders cutely and tightened her arms around her little aqua-colored octopus. It had blue eyes!

"Tuck her in?" I asked at the same time he started walking towards Esther with his arms wide.

"Come on, baby. Daddy's gonna tuck his little princess in," he swept her into his arms and dashed into her room, making her giggle loudly.

Cody just never changes. Ah, I love him so much.

I ran into the room and stood leaning against the door frame with my arms folded, watching the father and daughter.

"Sing to me?" Esther asked with a smile. Then suddenly she turned to me with a bigger smile. I shot her a confused look.

"Yes?" I asked, still wondering why she smiled bigger at me.

"Love, I think she wants you and I to sing her a song," Cody waved me forward.

"Together?" I asked, doubtfully.

"Yeah," he answered, the same time Esther nodded. "Let's sing the one that Shawn wrote for us when we met not long, a few years back."

I smiled a little and sat down beside Cody, then we started singing.

The story behind the song was about Cody and I, how we met, how we had many great times, great memories, how our love for each other grew as we grew older, how we were going to spend our future together and how we will be having many kids and all. But of course, there was parts where it described the ups and downs we had. The lyrics were wonderful, and so was the tune.

Flashback

"Everyone! I'm gonna be singing a song you've never heard before, and I'm going to be inviting a surprise guest star up to sing it with me, yeah?" Cody yelled through the microphone, grinning like a fool as the crowd went wild. "Alright, it's called Our Love, Love, Love. Hit it, man," he told the DJ right behind him.

The lights in the whole stadium went off and the song started. I remember everyone chanting something like, "Sing, sing, sing!" and so on.

"See, baby, our love was irrational," I sang and got on the stage quietly, then gave Cody a small hug from the back. No one could see, still... "but they thought, our love would be impossible..."

"They never knew, our love would grow, till they realized, realized..." The lights went back on and then the crowd was like...(silent for a few seconds...)

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! WOOHOO!!!"

"This is our love, love, love, it'll always grow above, 'bove, 'bove... We've proven them wrong, 'cause our love was...strong, this is our love...(love, love)." The both of us sang with huge smiles on our faces. Cody's smiled broadened while he waited for his turn to sing the bridge.

That was the kind of experience I've ever felt in my whole life - it was amazing, wonderful, fantastic!

Flashback over

I gave Esther a kiss on the head and pulled her covers higher. "Goodnight, Esther."

She smiled, "Night, Momma, night, Papa."

"Goodnight, Esther," Cody hugged her for a while and turned the night light on, before switching off the light.

The both of us left the room and I shut the door quietly.

"Nevedah," Cody snaked his arms around my waist from the back.

I rested my arms on his, "Yeah?"

"One-four-three," he whispered in my ear and planted a kiss on the back of my head.

I turned around and smiled into his chest while he hid his face in my hair. "I love you, too, Cody."

I loved this.
