Chapter 31

'I've got the kids. Go have fun.' The note had these words on it. Just like this. Huh? What? No, this doesn't seem like any writing I've ever seen. Not my Mom, not Davide, not Cody, for obvious reasons and no, not even Brad or Angie. This is weird.

"Morning, Mom!" Angel chirped happily as she came round the table to grab her toasted bread.

"Um, good morning, sweetie," I raised my eyebrows in confusion, "by any chance, Angel, is the rest in their rooms?"

She nodded. "Yeah, why?"

I sighed in relief. "Nothing, it's nothing."

She smiled and went to the dining table.

Isn't this odd? I took the paper up and crushed it into a crumpled ball before aiming it at the bin. Shoot. BAM. Who's the boss, now?! Muahahahaha.

"Mom, you know, a lady came into my room last night," Collin said, rubbing his eyes. "seemed like she climbed through the window, though."

"Say, huh? Come again?" I was stunned upon what he just said. Shit, shit shit, don't tell me Riley's back. CRAP!!!

"I don't know...but all I know was that she tried to touch me, and the next thing I know, I had my right hand on three of her fingers, followed by a crack and she almost cried out loud. Then I think she was gone." Now he was scratching his head.

"Yeah, that's my boy," I grinned and ruffled his hair.

"MOM! THE HAIR?" He exclaimed, really, really loudly, trying to fix his hair at the same time.

I laughed. Is it just me, or does the boys in the family just have this habit of saying that? "Alright, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, dude."

He shook his head and grinned before walking out.

So, I'll make a bet. The next person to enter, will be Cory.

Five... Four... Three... Two... One.

"Good morning, Mom. Today, I won't be studying, because I want to complete reading my books, see you later." And out he went.

I shook my head and continued drinking my water.

"Mom," Conner's voice appeared behind me. I stopped drinking and spun around...and was stunned. Conner was holding her hand tightly, while she limped every step she took.

"What happened to Esther?" I asked, feeling really worried. I placed the glass of water on the table and went toward her.

Conner slowly let go and Esther fell into my arms. "I'm not sure, too, I heard a soft shriek last night, coming from her room, but I wasn't awake, so I thought my mind was playing tricks with me, so I went back to sleep. Then the second time I woke up, a figure stood in front of me, trying to pull me out of my bed." He groaned. "Last midnight was one word; chaotic, period."

"What..." the fuck. I looked down at the weak Esther in my arms. "Esther, sweetie, are you alright? Are you feeling okay, right now?" I asked softly.

She swallowed hard and nodded weakly. "Yes..." she croaked.

I frowned. "Conner, please do me a favor and bring her out to the couch and keep her accompany, please?"

"Don't worry, Mom. I'll protect her." He grinned. "C'mon, baby sis," he held his arms out and bent down to the height where Esther was able to wobble her way into his arms.

I ran up the stairs to find Cody.

"Cody, I'm starting to think that Riley's- " I gasped and covered my mouth with my hand. Cody...was on the floor...with a pool of blood around him...

"She," his sooth and soft voice came out rough and hoarse. SHIT IS ON IT'S WAY. "was here," he managed to say. "Call the ambulance -- and keep the kids safe." And then his head fell hard onto the ground with a loud thud.

"Cody..." My lips quivered as I said his name. Tears welled in my eyes. That mother-fucking, daughter of a bitch, is going down.

RILEY, I'M GONNA GET YOU BACK, BITCH.
