Chapter 35
"Dad, let's play Call Of Duty! Gosh, it's been so long since we've had a round of it together!" Conner.
"Dad, let's have a competition in the pool!" Collin.
"Dad, I wanna watch you dance again!" Angel.
"Dad, I wanna hear you sing!" Esther.
"Guys, don't you think you should give Dad a break? He just got discharged from the hospital." Now, that's the sensible Cory's statement.
"That's right, people. All of you can go and have fun, but leave your Dad out. He still need his rest. Plus, he can't go anywhere near water yet, so having a competition in the pool is impossible. For him to dance is impossible too. So, Collin, Angel, think of something a little more appropriate and comfortable for him to do," I added on right after Cory. Cody's, well, seated on the couch, with his arm resting on his stomach, just listening to all of us with a smirk on his face. Apparently, he was finding this amusing and hilarious.
"What?" All of them asked in perfect synchronization, although it was ruined by the inexact moments when they turned their heads to face me.
"Well," I went on, turning to Cody, mirroring his reaction, before turning back to the kids - nothing is better than revenge, yeah? Am I right? Haha. "I think your Dad looks perfectly fine to me now, so, Cody, go have fun with the kids."
The kids cheered and laughed and did all those crazy looking things, while Collin just stared at everyone and while everyone was busy doing something, I spun around and faced Cody again, and folded my arms with a grin from ear to ear, satisfied with the reaction I received from him - a terrified look.
"But, Mom, Dad's just got back home for not long. He shouldn't be over-exceeding his body with all those tiring activities," Cory blinked a few times and looked up at me with a confused look. Maybe I should've named my son after Einstein, with his language. He was a little too young to speak all of these strong words, correct?
"Cory, mate, it's just a joke. Your Dad got a little, well, overly-proud that the both of us were stopping the rest from doing things with him, so...yeah," I played with his slight wavy, dirty-blond hair which resembled Cody's a lot.
He nodded and hopped onto the couch, continuing with his book.
I was so confused. Oh, right! "Cory, by the way, where did you learn all those strong words from?" Don't tell me the book he's holding is the dictionary?!
"Well...dictionary?" His cheeks flushed a little bit.
I smiled, kind of impressed by him. "Okay, well, you can stay here, if you want, I'm going to make dinner, yeah?"
He grinned sheepishly toward me. "Okay. Salad, Spaghetti or...?"
"Breakfast for dinner," I smiled and spun around, laughing mentally at the same time, knowing that he was happy that I was cooking that. It's always been his favorite!
"No, no, no, I'm sorry to disappoint you all, I hate myself for that, but I can't really do anything else but to eat, watch and sleep - like a, like a, well, pig," Cody's mumbled the last part, not wanting the kids to tease him and mock him...but as always, he was a little too late.
"HA-HA-HA, DAD'S A PIG, PIG, PIG!!!" Collin yelled, and cracked up instantly, making the rest join him - well, Cory's the only exception.

Gedness, meh! 'Az it been a yeh, since we hud brukfast fir dinnah?! Then the silly boy lifted the board above his head, with a silly look to top it all off, making everyone laugh again. Oh, you have no idea of how much his ridiculously funny reactions and jokes was missed.
"Gah," he swallowed and threw the board behind him. "who agrees that Mom's food's the best?!" He threw his hands in the air.
Multiple Me's were heard, and I laughed. "Oh, all of you flatter me. What could be so hard? It's just making breakfast...at dinner time."
All of them laughed again.
"Let's tuck in, everybody!" Cody's voice bounced around the room. I always wondered how he could keep his cheerful attitude up. I just don't know how. I loved that.

"Nah, I'll make the dishes, babe. Go and rest. It's been a long day for you," Cody insisted for the - lost count - time. Gah, he's injured, yet he still does this to me.
"Fine." I pecked him on the cheek and spun around to walk away, but he pulled me back by surprise.
"Nuh-uh. Not the cheek, you missed a special spot," he whispered in my ear and spun me back around slowly. I smiled a little and leaned in slowly. I am going to be mischievous, baby, mis.chie.vous.
I leaned in close to his lips and smirked. "Nope." I leaned back, but he tightened his arms around me.
"I knew you've got this up your sleeves. Well, too bad. I'm getting this kiss," he mirrored my expression and pressed his lips softly on mine.
"Ew, smooches!" Collin gagged, appearing at the side.
I pulled away from the kiss and faced him. "Aww, don't be sad, Collin. Here, let Mommy give you a kiss," I pretended.
"EEE!!! NO!!!" And out he ran. Ah, that little boy never fails to amuse me. His nonsense. It's just hilarious.
I laughed and walked out. But, Cody yelled something, One four three, too!
Oh, my God, he heard me in the hospital. He really did. Oh, gosh. "Cody Robert Greenwood Simpson," I walked back in with an eyebrow raised.
He panicked and threw his hands - which was full of bubbles from the detergent - up, turning around slowly. "Yes, baby?"
"You heard me in the hospital, the first time I said One four three, right?" I squinted my eyes and raked a hand through my hair.
"I-I...yes...well, I wanted to open my mouth, but I couldn't. I wanted to open my eyes, but the more so I couldn't, so I think if I said it now..." he rubbed the back of his neck and yelped. "Oh, goodness, ohmyGod, there's soap on my neck, geesh!" he quickly washed his hands and took a dry cloth to wipe to the foam away. "it'll make up for not being able te be there, at that moment, to say it back..." he looked at me shyly and went back to washing the dishes.
I smiled and wrapped my arms around his waist from the back. "Well then, I forgive you for that."
