Chapter 14

It was only when I was laying in bed that I started to feel something I'd never felt before. I felt lonely. My family were all in the house but I felt like someone was missing. Nathan.

When you hear other people talking about their boyfriend, how they miss them so much even when they only saw them yesterday and you just shake your head at them and call them stupid well now I completely understood that feeling. It took me a while to get to sleep as I just lay awake thinking, thinking of the way I had laid in his arms feeling so safe and carefree. Whether or not Nathan would remember what happened was questionable which sort of comforted me but at the same time made me a little worried, would we still be the same?

In the blur of the last few days I'd almost forgotten to talk to Charlotte about what had happened, I hadn't told anyone else yet and she was going to be the first one to find out. To say she was a little shocked when I recited the events would definitely be classed as an understatement, at first she was speechless apart from the gentle mutter of 'oh my god' under her breath. We sat in silence on her bed, neither of us prepared to speak. Her eyes suddenly flickered to me and she asked simply.

'So he's okay?' I nodded.

'I think so, he was when I left him'

'You have to go and see him again!' She said, perking up. 'You two have definitely got something!' I blushed hitting her on the arm.

'Stop okay' trying my best to sound serious but completely failing as I couldn't hold back a grin.

'Okay, that's it, you're going to see him right now!'

'What!? No I'm not' I folded my arms, imitating a small child.

'Put this on' she threw me a pair of white skinny jeans and a light pink jumper. I gave her a look as if to say 'no way'

'Aw come on it's so cute!' I frowned at her, taking the clothes reluctantly.

'If it was anyone else I would not be doing this' I started to push her out of the room, she laughed as I shut it behind her.

I tugged on the jeans, managing to button them up after a considerable struggle. I pulled on the jumper down to my waist looking in the mirror to check how I looked. For once I actually felt kind of... Pretty. My naturally curly hair was hanging limply at my shoulders so I used my curlers to add some curls and I finished it off with a quick spurt of hairspray. I wouldn't normally spend this long but I had almost made a subconscious decision that I needed to look good for Nathan.

'Are you almost done in there!?' Charlotte shouted impatiently hammering her fist on the door.

'You can come in!' I replied as I picked up a pair of white pearl earrings from the table. Charlotte broke out into a massive grin when she saw me.

'You look so good Soph, he's so going to fall for you if he hasn't already!' I turned away from her, not replying as I touched up my makeup feeling embarrassed. She sat watching me intently on the bed, with anyone else I would have found that quite disturbing but for her it was regular behaviour.

'Are you coming with me?' I asked a little confused at her plan as I sat down next to her momentarily.

'Obviously not! You two need to be alone!' I gave her a disapproving look.

'Ha ha' I mocked, she laughed a little.

'But no I'm actually serious, get to know each other!' She said with enthusiasm.

'I want to I just, I don't know if he really likes me' I smiled weakly.

'Don't be stupid, how couldn't he!' I shook my head getting up from the bed.

'If you're going to make me go then let's go'

'You know you want to go really!' She said giggling. I didn't reply but as we walked out of her house I did a have a genuine smile on my face.

As we walked she continued to tease me.

'You know I'm expecting a snog at least by the end of the night otherwise I'll be having words' she laughed at herself as I tried my best not to laugh too and put on a convincing frown as I said,

'Really Charlotte!?'

'Sorry, too far?' I nodded at her as we both simultaneously burst out laughing. The walk to Nathan's was taking my mind off it a little and if anything I actually felt a little more confident as we arrived at his doorstep.

'You text me the second you leave okay?'

'Well duh!' I said as I stepped up to his door.

'Good luck!' She grinned walking off down the path in the opposite direction towards her house. I took a deep, steady breath placing my finger on the doorbell and after a few seconds to get my composure, I gently pressed it. I watched the glass of the door as a shadow of a figure could be seen approaching it.
