lost for words

Alison's POV

On my way to the hospital I get a call from Emily's doctor.

"Alison"

"y-yes?" I stutter, hoping it isn't bad news about Emily.

"We have brilliant news about Emily" her doctor says.

My eyes widen and a huge smile grows on my face.

"Well good and bad news, kinda..." He implies.

"Of course" I mutter.

"Emily is awake but her speech is not as good as it was before, instead of over the phone I'd like to speak with you in person. If that's okay" he says. All I heard was 'Emily is awake'.

My heart begins to beat faster and butterflies grow in my stomach. After almost 2 months without speaking to Emily or hearing her voice, she's finally awake.

"oh my god, of course. I'm on my way" I reply.

I end the call and rush to the hospital, obviously trying not to go over the speed limit.
I finally get to the hospital and race into her room, not bothering to check in. My mind is set on Emily and the only thing I want to do right now is touch her, hug her and speak to her.
I run into the room and see Emily lied down whilst watching television.

"Emily" was all that came out of my mouth.
she shoots her head around and a smile was instantly plastered on her face as soon as she saw me.

"oh my god you're awake" I sigh.
I ran over to her and wrapped my arms around her neck and pulled her in for a tight hug, she hugged back and melted into my arms. I can't believe she is awake.

"I-I-I" Emily stuttered.

"Em, are you okay?" I ask, confused.

"W-W-Why" she stutters again.

"Why what, Hun?" I say.

"Alison, a word."
I turn my head to see Emily's doctor stood at the door.

"Y-Yeah, sure."
I squeeze em's hand then follow her doctor into his office.

"About Emily, there is a slight problem with her speech and how her brain is working right now. She isn't talking properly as you can tell and she couldn't answer any questions on which I asked her earlier on. So, my guess is that the past for her is a little blurry." He explains.

"Oh, okay. Thank you, doctor." I nod and walk back into Emily's room. This sucks but I'm just glad that she is awake and breathing.
