Chapter 30

Noah

"James, this weekend it's not possible I have a lot of work to complete. You know I had taken a leave for my trip few weeks back and now its payback time. Sorry bro next time no excuses for sure", I tried convincing my friend James on the other end of the call.

James is my, rather everyone from our group's school mate. He is throwing a party this weekend at his farmhouse and is inviting me to come too but I am really not in a mood to party so I'm trying to skip it with my work but he doesn't seem to buy it.

"Dude, Tam, Isa, Aiden, Jub have already confirmed, it's just Kia and you who have to. I tried calling her but she did not answer my call maybe she is in a meeting or something but I'm pretty sure she will be coming too. You'd better take care of your work loads and make some time to come because I ain't taking a no this time." He hung up before I could even answer leaving behind no choice for me.

After that I resumed back to my work leaving all this for later since anyway I will have to go and deal with it, not that I can ignore it forever.

Yeah you got me, I meant by Kia.

In the evening while returning home, I decided to call up my helper friend, who is now a friend not a helper anymore.

"Hey Hastings"

"Hi! You're free right now?"

"I will be in 20 minutes, just winding up with my work, why what happened?"

"No, I was just wondering if you are free to meet. I got done with my work and I was thinking to grab a beer but then I thought a company wouldn't be bad." I heard her chuckle as she said she will meet me at the Royals Club.

I drove down to the club and went to the bar where she was waiting for me. I took longer to reach as that club is quite close to her workplace compared to mine. We ordered for two beers as we slipped into conversations about our work and other random things.

"So you are going for the weekend to James'?" I asked while sipping my beer.

"Yep and you'd better come too", she eyed me.

"Frankly I was planning to pass but then you know James he won't let me, so yes I am coming too", I huffed.

"Oh come on you can't keep sulking for life now. See today is new day and you should embrace everything you have with you right now instead of weeping over what you could have had from your past."

"Wow didn't expect this coming but again you are right. But is she even coming? James said he couldn't reach out to her", I said.

"Don't really know about. I couldn't get a chance to ask her either."

I reached office with a very chirpy mood, since the time I have come to know that Parker is coming to California and I doubt I can contain myself with this news but I will have to, geez! With that I got into my cabinet to start off with my work and within a blink I got myself piled up with it.

By afternoon I had completed attending two meetings and working over three different projects with my staff. After that I left the office for another meeting followed by receiving a client who had come from Japan. Finally in the evening around seven I got free from the office and straight headed home.

On my way I saw there were some missed calls from Parker and mum while two missed calls of Isa and James, my batch mate from school.

I rang mum first followed by Parker looking at the number of calls they had already given me. Mum had some usual stuff to talk and Parker picked up the call at the third bell.

"There you finally reverted back", he stated.

"Hello to you too, and yeah I just kinda got free was very busy at work today. Now tell me what was so urgent that you couldn't wait to tell me."

"I won't be coming to California in a few weeks-"

"What?! Why? Your transfer got cancelled?" I cut him before he could say anything else.

"Jeez, woman hold on! I said I won't be coming to California in a few weeks because I coming this weekend itself."

"Oh my god! That is awesome", I wide smile plastered my face.

"I came to know about it around noon and since then I have been trying to reach you. I have already started packing", Parker laughed.

"This can't get any better. I can't wait to see you Park."

"Me too Beautiful! But like we have decided you will not tell anyone about it, I will come and surprise everyone myself", I could feel him smirk.

"Yeah-Yeah okay", and with that we hung up.

Then I gave a call to James, "Hey Jammie! How are you?"

"Hi Kia, I am absolutely amazing. How are you? You seem to be very busy there?"

I chuckled saying, "I am great and yes the work keeps me on my toes, no breathe. You tell me, what reminds you of me?"

"I am having a party this weekend at my farmhouse and I want you all to come and I mean it all. No excuse, no bailing", he sternly said.

But Parker?

"Jammie seriously I have got work to complete and so I can't come."

"Sorry not working, you have to come, find yourself a way and now I will hang up on you too like I did with Noah when he tried to excuse himself out too", and with that he actually hung up.

I gave a call to Parker again telling him the situation and he came up with a brilliant idea. I told James that I will come to the party but a little late which meant I will bring along Parker to the party and with that he can easily surprise everyone too.

This weekend is going to be one memorable event!

I returned my call to Isa who wanted to ask me about the weekend party itself and we spoke about other things too. As soon as I reached home, I distantly spotted Noah smiling to himself. I went up to him and waved. He broke out of the trance and waved me back.

"Hey Tom"

"Hey Jerry"

An awkward silence washed us.

I broke it with, "So you are coming to the party?"

"Yeah, besides James wouldn't take no for an answer as he says leaving me with other option", we chuckled.

"You?" he asked me.

"Yeah same here, but I will be joining in a bit late completing my work."

He just nodded and then suddenly asked me, "Kia when are you planning to tell your parents about us, its not right to keep them into a wrong world."

"Yeah you are right. Maybe I will tell them over the dinner today and then friends we can tell them tomorrow in the evening calling them over?"

"Sounds good. I will tell dad too", he said.
