Chapter 41

Parker

Finally I was in a place to have my friends at the apartment so Kia helped me arrange for a small dinner with them today. Days may be counted as ages since we might have got a good time with everyone together. They all are like my own friends now. Ever since, I have come here to California they have been very kind and hostile to me, sure we haven't got a chance to meet up, but they have always been in touch with me.

Surprisingly, Noah has been showing his efforts too. He had called me recently to ask if I wanted help in shopping or settling. To be frank, I was quite speechless, knowing the past history; he hasn't liked me so this was totally an unexpected one.

I guess even he has grown out of his feelings for Kia since the time they called off their wedding.

Maybe some advantage for me!

"Beautiful, I can handle that much, you go get dressed you have been working with me since long now. I don't want you to get exhausted before time", I went to remove her apron and dragged her out.

She was carrying her outfit along and so she simply went to my room and got ready. She had known my place more than me now and often she would get ready here if we going out somewhere together.

Kiara and I have been a lot closer, lately. We have most definitely started spending much of our time together which is why we are so comfortable with each other. We both have always had a lot of things in common.

We have also started going out as I keep exploring the city to the new places she always keeps taking me to, they are places, I might have not even heard about. She never gets tired of showing me around or doing something for me, which gets me thinking at times but she always shrugs that by saying That is what friends are for!

No argument on her statements is my learnt lesson.

Our friendship is on the most impeccable route but what is along with it, is a strange magnet that keeps us pulling together. There are moments which are in space with no explanations to it and both of us never speak about it.

I can't see that smile ever being faded from her face, it would tear me apart.

And reason would be I DON'T KNOW!

"Park, need anything? I am ready now", she walked in her yellow floral dress which hugged from the top and was floral down her waist, just up till her knees. She had tied her hair into a side loose bun with a few curls bouncing from her forehead.

PERFECT!

"What?" she asked.

"Did I say something?" I questioned her back not sure of what she might have heard.

"Yes you said Perfect", she said while rearranging her dress.

"Is the dress fine?" she said again.

Thank the good lord!

"Yes it is just like you, Beautiful", I pecked her cheek and went to change myself into fresh pair of clothes.

Soon everyone turned up, Aiden and Isabella, Noah, Tamara and Jubliee. They were a bit surprised to see Kia here at start but then they probably understood that she is no guest to my place now.

It was pleasant to have them all come over. We chit-chatted a bit in the start catching up with where everyone was and they never made me feel like I was new among them.

Aiden and Isabella's love is flowering while Jubilee is very happy with her job at Kia's company and for Tamara and Noah; they seem to have become friends too. I remember Kia telling me that the two could not even be left in the same room and today they are sitting on the same couch.

Time strengthens every loose ends!

After a good time of talking and drinks, we moved to have our dinner. Everyone liked the food, most of which was cooked by Kia because of the skills I possess according to her, she wouldn't let me cook alone.

"The super is amazing Parker and the apartment looks great", Jubilee spoke while completing the dinner.

"Thanks to Kia", I glanced at her as she gave me a shy smile.

Suddenly, Kiara's phone rang and she got up to answer it. After, about a good ten minutes, she came back and announced that her Aunt Cherry's son Calvin was coming to town.

Everyone except Noah seemed confused in the room. Then Noah broke the ice and told us that Aunt Cherry is the same aunt with whom Kiara's grandpa stays right now, the one they had visited back in Taverny when we all were in Paris.

"That's right and Calvin is her son and my uncle's stepson. He was in Singapore all this while completing his studies and it seems he wants to settle here in California so he will be coming here in a few days now", Kia explained the rest.

"So is he going to stay with your house Kay?" Tam asked while eating.

"Yeah I guess until he finds himself an apartment", she returned back to her eating.

Later after dinner, Noah and I went out to the balcony as the others played card games. This might be the first time since I have known all of them that Noah has chosen to stay with me.

"You like Kiara, right?" he popped his question in the air.

I turned to him in surprise and tried saying the right words, "NO-No-Not at all"

My words left my mouth but realisation dawned later making me rethink about it.

"See you are rethinking about it, buddy", Noah smirked.

"No I was actually wondering as to why would you ask me that?" I tried to act my best, not sure of what did I want to hear.

"I have been there and I know that place Parker. I was the one who was completely in love with her since our childhood days but I was her best friend too and that never gave me the courage to tell her how I felt."

He continued, "When our wedding was being announced and she agreed to it, the only thing I had in my mind, that time was to make her fall in love with me too. But maybe it wasn't destined that way and I also realised you can't make someone fall in love with you. You either do or you don't."

"I am sorry man!" I felt terrible thinking about how he must have felt each time she looked at him like a best friend and he searched for that love in her eyes.

I always knew that Noah was in love with Kiara but the love was so intense is new to me, which makes me realise how he would have felt every time she chose another choice of guy against him and later the wedding being called off.

"Don't worry, now I am absolutely fine and I appreciate our friendship as it is very precious to me. I am happy that we are still best friends and I will treasure that for life", he said.

"I am so glad you are out of pain", I patted his back as he gave me a bro hug.

We spoke for a little while before going back and playing with the group. It felt nice to talk to him and I also realised how fine Noah was. He is an amazing person and it was a shame that we didn't get to know each other till now.

I am sure our friendship can bond too and we can be great friends!
