Chapter 8.

When Nadine opened the door to the Biology classroom, everyone's eyes were on her.

"What?" Nadine asked coolly, raising her left brow.

"Ms. Lustre, since you are new here can you please introduce yourself here in front?" Mr. Frank asked.

"But I already told you who I am."

"Yes you did but some of the students here might not know your name."

Nadine nods slowly and went to the front.

"Write your name first on the board, please before you start." Mr. Frank gave her a marker.

She wrote her name on the board and turned to her classmates again.

"My name's Nadine Alexis P. Lustre. That's all." Nadine said.

A student from the first row raised his hand, Mr. Frank just pointed his pen on the student.

"You said you're from the Hearts Building, right? Then what are you doing here at Aces?"

"Yes, I am. Principal Levi told us that by transferring here at Aces is our reward for doing well in our academics in Hearts Building."

Another student raised her hand.
"Us? You mean there's more?"

"Yes, there's actually two of us. My best friend Liza Soberano but she's currently at her Home Economics class."

Then another one raised her hand.

Nadine was mentally groaning. Why do they need to ask so many questions?!

"What?!" Nadine snapped.

'Geez Nadine, you're slowly turning into Liza. Gotta have more patience.'

"What's it like there in Hearts Building? Are the students there civili--"

"Look, *sighs* if you don't have any important things to say, can I just go back to my seat?" Nadine politely asked the student then turned to Mr. Frank.

"Of course, Ms. Lustre."

Nadine walked towards her seat which was still next to James and took a seat, ignoring him. She was still pissed at him at what he did earlier.

He poked her arm but still she didn't budge.

"Psst! Nadz! Are you mad? (｡ŏ_ŏ)" James whispered so that Mr. Frank won't hear them.

"Shut up. Don't talk to me. (¬_¬)" Nadine muttered.

"But... But... Nadz, I'm sorry please? (｡•́︿•̀｡)" -James.

"..." -Nadine.

Nadine took out her notebook and wrote down some notes and key words so she could study it later when she gets home.

"Naddie..." -James.

Nadine froze in her seat and gripped her pencil so hard, her knuckles were white.

"Naddie! Come on, let's play!"

"I love you, Naddie! I promise that I'll keep you safe."

"N-Naddie, I'm sorry... But you made me do this! It's your fault!"

Nadine's breathing became shallow, she was slightly shaking.  She remembers.

She remembers all that monster said. What that monster did.

"Nadz...? Are you okay?" James asked as he carefully put his hand on her shoulder making her jump in her seat.

"W-what?!" Nadine asked now looking at him.

James' brows met in confusion. "Hey, what's wrong?"

Nadine looked down her notebook and tried to calm her breathing, she let go of her pencil and closed her eyes.

She massaged her aching temples and turned to look at James.

"Can y-you please don't call me by that name? Please?" Nadine asked.

"Hah? Why?" -James.

"Just please don't. I-I remember something bad when I hear that name." -Nadine.

James raised his right brow but still nodded nonetheless.

"Can you please talk to me now?" James asked while using his puppy dog eyes.

"Paawa effect." Nadine hissed.

"What's that? What is paawa?" -James.

"It means, like, you're trying to be cute or something like that." -Nadine.

"I am cute!" James smirked while leaning a bit to her.

Nadine scoffed. "I've seen people who are much cuter than you."

"Hmm? Really?-- Heh! Doesn't matter, bet I'm more cuter and more handsome."

"Tsk! Who said you're handsome? Cuz I really think they need their eyes checked."

James was about to say something witty but then, their teacher called their names.

"Nadine! Reid! Care to share your topic?" Mr. Frank yelled.

Nadine heard some of her classmates whisper something like:

"Did you hear what Mr. Frank said? Nadine Reid?"

"Stupid! He called for Nadine and James! Tss..."

Nadine blushed and looked at James--he was also blushing! Why is he blushing?!

"Err... Sorry, sir! Won't happen again." James apologized scratching his nape.

"Make sure of that, Mr. Reid!"

James just laughed making him look like a fool.

'A cute fool he is then.' Nadine said to herself.

"Oh my gosh, James is, like, the cute!" -Girl classmate #1.

"Aww~" -Girl classmate #2.

"James, my baby!" -Delusional girl #1.

Nadine looked at them with a weird look like saying, 'What the fuck are these girls reacting this way?!'

"Class! Settle down please, now back to our lesson..." Mr. Frank said and continues teaching.

"Told you I was cute!" James whispered.

Nadine rolled her eyes but chuckled. "But I still don't think you're cute." She lied.

She peeked at James to see him look hurt and pouting his lips.

"You hurt me." James said, still pouting.

He was serious though, he was hurt when Nadine told him he was not cute for her. And he didn't know why...

Nadine bit her lower lip to stop herself from laughing, James' eyes traveled to her lips.

"Don-don't bite your lip. Damn!" James muttered still looking at her lip.

Nadine did what he told her and just chuckled then turned back to Mr. Frank and so did James but his eyes are would sometimes turn to her lips which she never notices.

'What the hell, James?! Stop staring at her lips man!'

'But I can't, I wonder what her lips taste like? Hmm...'

'No! STOP RIGHT THERE, REID!'

James was having an inner battle with himself but in the end, he still keeps taking glances at Nadine's lips.
