Chapter 24.

It got surprisingly traffic on their way home, Liza was sleeping next to her on the passenger's seat, Daniel was just looking outside his window watching the other cars move from the other side of the road.

Nadine sighed. "So... What's your story, Daniel?"

Daniel got surprised at his Ate Nadine's sudden question so he didn't reply first. Nadine, thinking he might not be comfortable decided to apologize.

"Sorry, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to." Nadine said looking up on him by the rearview mirror.

"No... It's okay I'll tell you my story." Daniel looked down and played with his thumbs.

"I was kidnapped at the age of 14, me and my sister were just taking a stroll around the Luneta Park at Maynila. Her name's Sandra Padilla, she told me that she wants ice cream so I told her to wait for me at the bench while I go buy the two of us ice creams," Daniel paused and took a breath.

"When I came back, she was no where to be seen. I didn't panic at first since Sandra's an adventurous girl but then after an hour passed and she still hasn't come back. I talked to the other people who were also there at the park and asked if they saw Sandra, none of them gave me the answer I wanted."

"... Then as I looked around again, I felt someone tap my shoulder. I looked up to see his face, he was old and slightly chubby, wearing glasses, white shirt, slacks... He looked like a decent guy. He told me that he saw Sandra and can take me to her, of course being a naive boy I am back then I agreed then they took me to an unfamiliar street and next thing I know is everything went black."

He sniffed a little that made Nadine panic. "You can stop now! We can talk about this some other time!"

"N-No, I'm alright." He said and continued on with his story.

"When I woke up, I was inside a dark room strapped in a bed with only in my underwear. Then some guys wearing lab coats and nurses came in. They did different types of experiments on my body that day and everyday."

"Where's your sister? What happened to her?" Nadine asked.

"I found out after a couple of weeks that she's already dead. Sh-she got killed when she was t-t-training."

"And you?"

"They did more experiments on me, many kids die and come everyday... I was one of the lucky ones to survive, they changed my name there. They used to call me No. 1130. I-I didn't have any friends there, I made a rule for myself don't trust anyone but yourself."

Nadine looked down and bit her lip, she felt sad for Daniel and his sister.

"We're the same." She heard Liza say, she heard Liza shift in her seat and look onto the road.

"Ate Liza..."

"I was the same like you, kid. I shut everybody out of my life... Didn't believe that I could still have a chance to survive that hell hole and will most likely to die, until I met Nadine and three other kids... Josh, Liam and Friday."

"H-How did you two meet?"

"It was funny really, Nadz here accidentally bumped me and then her soup poured all over my white shirt. Then I punched her hard in the face and the next thing I knew? We became friends." Liza turned to Daniel giving him a smirk, Nadine laughed.

"Yes... That's what happened." Nadine laughed.

"That was kinda unexpected." Daniel comments.

"It is." Liza agreed.

"Did you guys know that I've been hunting you down for the past 4 months? Geez, you're so hard to find." Daniel rolls his eyes.

"What can I say? We're good at hiding." Liza smugly says.

"Alright! Yes! Finally!" Nadine cheered when they finally got out of traffic, she began to drive fast but not so fast to call the police's attention.

"Okay, just put these things down here for now and then tomorrow we can fix it since it's Saturday tomorrow." Nadine says as she settle down the last 2 paper bags of Daniel's clothes.

"Can I sleep on the bedroom now?" Daniel politely asks.

"Yeah, here's the keys. Return them later to me okay?" Liza hands him 3 bedroom keys.

Daniel immediately goes upstairs and looks for his bedroom.

Liza sat down on one of the couches and took of her shoes.

"I remember myself in Daniel..." She mutters.

"Me too..." Nadine sits down next to her and puts her head on Liza's shoulder.

"Hey, I found the room I want! Here." Daniel gives back the keys to Liza and goes to one of the paper bags to get his new bedsheets and pillowcases.

"Well, good night!" He chirps and went upstairs again.

Nadine and Liza hang out on the living room for a bit doing nothing, just staring off to space.

"I should go now, good night." Nadine mutters softly and then stands up and Liza does the same.

"Aren't you going to take off that bandage?" Liza pointed at Nadine's bandage.

"Later, before I go to bath." Nadine says and went upstairs.

Liza checked all the locks first before going straight to bed. What? She's tired!

"Goodnight..." She mumbles and fell sleep.
