Chapter 6.

"Hey guys, miss me?" Nadine asked as she traced the curvy letters of the names  of her siblings on their tombstone.

Liza smiled sadly behind her, she crouched down to place the red Chrysanthemums that they bought, she remembered back when Hailey and Gerald were alive the four of them would hang out at their garden at Nadine's yard then Hailey would make flower crowns for the four of them, even for Gerald. They would sometimes pretend they were fairies and Gerald was a the prince.

Those were the happy times.

Liza sat next to Nadine on the picnic mat they bought with them on their way here at the cemetery, she patted the tombstone and smiled.

"Hey, do you guys still remember me? I'm Big sis, Liza!" Liza chirped.

"Happy Birthday, my babies! Happy 8th Birthday! Big sis Nadine and Liza love you! We brought some cupcake, just like what Gerald wants." Nadine said as she took out four colorful cupcakes from the box and placed two on the tombstone and gave Liza one which she thanked for.

"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday! Happy birthday! Happy birthday! Happy birthday to you! We love you, Hailey and Gerald." Liza sang.

They stayed for a little and chatted like the two kids were there and of course eating their cupcakes, if someone was passing by they would think that these two were crazy for talking at the tombstone.

'But maybe that's just how Nadine loves Hailey and Gerald. She doesn't care what people would think of her as long as she's with Hailey and Gerald.'

Liza took a glance on her wristwatch and tapped Nadine on the shoulder, it's almost 5:00 PM (they left school at 3:52 PM).

"Nadine, it's time to go. Come on," Liza mutters as she got to her feet and straightened her skirt and blazer, she lend her hand to help Nadine stand up.

"Bye, Hailey and Gerald. Say bye for me to Mom and Dad too, okay? Tell them I miss them and Liza's doing a great job being my nagging nanny-slash-mom!" Nadine joked at the last part.

Liza lightly slapped her back. "Oi! I'm offended!" She laughed.

"--And for always being my best friend..." Nadine sincerely added smiling down at the tombstone then at Liza.

"Awww!!! I'm touched!" Liza said and hugged her best friend.

"We gotta go now, loves. Again, Happy Birthday!" Liza squealed.

Both girls laughed, Nadine kissed her fingers and wiped it on her sibling's tombstone then she picked up the box where they put the cupcakes to throw it on the nearest trash bin they could find on their way out of the cemetery.

Night came and Nadine and Liza were still up, wrapping their books and putting their names on their book and also notebooks.

"Nadine, what's your class for tomorrow?" Liza asked while taping her name on her last notebook.

"Biology, you?"

"Home Economics."

"Nadine?"

"Yeah?"

"I'm happy to be your best friend..."

That made Nadine stop wrapping plastic cover on her last book and look at Liza, she suddenly tackled her in a hug making Liza stumble from Nadine's bed.

"Me too."

Liza tightened her hug and she could feel her eyes brimming with tears.

"You're my only my family now, Liza." Nadine's voice cracked.

"Mhmmm, I promise." Liza uttered.

The two girls let go of each other and continued what they were doing. Once they were done, both of them went to bed.
