Chapter 40.

Timeskip: Dismissal Time.

James walked with Enrique, Alden and Maine.

Enrique took note of the way James is being quiet about a while ago. He wanted to ask him but it seems to him that his friend does not want to talk.

They saw Liza with Nadine and Bret, they walked over to them but James stood still, just looking at Nadine who was looking down trying to avoid James' eyes.

"Hey James?! What are you doing standing there?!" Alden asked.

He didn't answer and just walked forward, having the guts to stand next to Nadine. Nadine didn't say anything.

"Well, I just want to say goodbye!" Enrique waved his hand and walked away.

"Bye, Quen!" They all said except for Nadine, James and Liza (she just waved at him).

"Let's go?" Bret held Nadine's hand, she just smiled. James grit his teeth and looked away.

Bret led the way to the ice cream parlor, still holding Nadine's hand James tried to ignore Bret's hands that were entangled with Nadine's but he soon finds his eyes looking back at their hands.

"We're heeeeeere~" Bret said in a sing-song voice and since he and Nadine were in front, he let go of Nadine's hand and was the one who opened the glass door for them, and for that James' mood shifted from annoyed to glad.

One by one they came in (except for MaiDen who were holding hands) and chose a table near the large window decorated with ice cream stickers of course.

"Remember! You're treat!" Bret pointed at Nadine who silently rolled her eyes and looked at her friends.

"What flavor do you guys want?" She asked and opened her bag to get her notepad to write their order.

"Coffee crumble" -Alden.

"Salted caramel sundae with Kit-Kat toppings" -Maine.

"The usual banana frozen yogurt." -Liza

"I wanna try the Mocha Almond Fudge!" -Bret.

"..." -James.

Nadine stopped writing and looked at James who didn't give her his order. He was just looking at her.

"...James? What do you want?" She asked, trying not to sound awkward towards him but Liza noticed this but chose to stay quiet.

James still looked at her, not saying a thing. Nadine blinked and sighed.

"James, I asked you? What flavor do you want?"

James looked down on his lap and murmured "Dark Chocolate" in a low voice.

"What?" She asked.

"I said I want Dark Chocolate." He said.

Nadine nodded and walked towards the cashier to buy her friends their ice cream, after she ordered and paid the woman, she returned to her friend's table and awkwardly sat next to James since that's the only available seat.

She put her chin under her knuckles and stared out of the window, watching some of the students of Tesla High talk with their friends and some other people that live in Harvey Village just do their thing.

James wanted to talk to her, atleast ask her why she suddenly left him in the library after he confessed that he maybe likes her. He really doesn't know if he does like, like her.

Maybe he's just... Confused of his feelings? James tends to get possessive sometimes, he gets possessive of Enrique and Alden (no, he is definitely not gay), he gets possessive of his things.
