Chapter 35.

Just when Nadine came inside their teacher for today, followed. She took a seat next to James and readied her painting materials like: her different kinds of paintbrush, different colors of paints, her canvass, etc.

She wore her apron and tied her hair in a high ponytail and rolled up her sleeves so the paint won't stain it.

"Reading-ready ah?" Alden commented beside her while he too was rolling up his sleeves, Nadine only chuckled.

"Good morning class! We have a new student! Pleas introduce yourself."

Maine stands up and walks in front of the class. "My name is Maine Mendoza! Nice to meet you."

"Are you a commoner or do you belong to a wealthy family?"

"No, I'm a commoner. I'm actually an exchange student from London." -Maine.

"Psh! Another one of them!" She heard a student snicker.

Maine rolled her eyes, she's not gonna tolerate that student's bullshit.

"What "another one of them?"" She asks.

"You're one of them! One of that Nadine girl over there! Poor people!" The student pointed at Nadine who was looking at her as if saying 'don't-worry-it-doesn't-affect-me'-look.

"Listen here, dude. I won't let you say that to me or my friend over there so I suggest you shut up your bloody mouth." Maine says in a fake polite tone.

"Ugh! Are all commoners like you? Do they all have dirty mouths?"

"Only to an dumbass like you."

"Okay, okay, enough! Go back to your seat Ms. Mendoza." Their teacher commanded and Maine obeyed.

"Today, you will paint something that you feel. You will all paint what emotions you feel inside, is it love? Pain? Anger? Nostalgia? Anything! I'll leave you to your work, I'm sure Ms. Hellburne our Aces' president can handle this?" Their teacher pointed at Helen Hellburne, a pure-American brunette girl with brown eyes and fair complexion, she nodded and then their teacher left.

"What are you guys gonna paint?" Maine asks while dipping her paintbrush on a black paint.

"Happiness? It's more easy!" Alden answers.

"Longing..." Nadine quietly says and began mixing the black paint with the white one and dipping her paintbrush on the mixed paint, she stroked her paintbrush on her blank canvass with so much concentration.

"Uh... I don't know how to paint hehe?" James shyly admits while scratching the back of his head.

"I can help you, James!" Sofia suddenly says beside him.

"WAHHH! What the fuck, Sofia?!" James screams his hands in the air.

"I can help you paint if you want!" Sofia offers.

"No! I can do it myself!" James forcefully dips his paintbrush over a yellow paint and strokes his canvass with so much force.

"You are doing it wrong!" Sofia points at his work, it looked like a deformed sun.

"Here, I can help!" Sofia steals his paintbrush and dips it on another paint. James looks at her in shock.

"Fine! Go do it on your own then!" James grumbles and turns to watch Nadine do her piece.

"She's just trying to help you, James." Nadine says, not looking at him and still focused on her work.

"I don't care, for all I know she's just making moves on me." James whispers harshly.

"You are really good! Do you do this often?" James asks.

"Most of the time, yes. Painting is my way of relaxing." -Nadine.

"Done!" They (Alden, Maine, Nadine, James) turned to Sofia who showed her work.

"What the fuck is that?" -Maine.

"Uhh... Is that a dog?" -Nadine.

"Pfft! I cannot!" -Alden.

"..." -James.

Ugly is an understatement if you saw Sofia's work. It looked horrible! There was a deformed girl colored in violet, a man with a small head and its other hand has four fingers while its other hand was so big, there's also a green colored dog or cat, and a brown house behind the three figures.

"Well... It looks like shit." Maine comments and continues her work.

"LOL! WAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!" Alden laughs.

"Um... Er, I'll just... Yeah." Nadine returns to her work.

"So what do you think?!" Sofia excitedly asks.

"What do I think?! I think it's the most horrible painting I've ever seen! What are you a child?!" -James.

Sofia pouted and looked at her work. "It's cute!"

"You know what? Just go back to your own work. I'll do my work myself." James grabs his paintbrush from her and washes the paint off it with water on the sink near him.

"You did your best, Sofia." Nadine smiles, Sofia rolled her eyes and went to her working station.

James gets another blank canvass from the 'canvass' cabinet and replaces it with Sofia's work.

"What do want to paint anyway?" -Nadine.

"I dunno, maybe something that reminds me of... Dad." -James.

"What do you feel when you remember him?"

"Pain, Happiness, Sorrow, Joy"

"Pick one."

"Joy."

"Good, now paint something that shows joy."

"As I've said, I can't paint."

"You don't have to be good at anything, being bad at something is the first step to being sorta good at it. A friend once told me that."

James stares at her in awe, she was right.

"... Okay" James picked up his paintbrush and dipped it again on yellow paint and started to do his work.

After 1 hour...

"Done!" -Maine.

"Done!" -Alden.

"Same." -Nadine.

"Er..." -James.

They looked at each other's work and surprisingly, James made a good work!

"See?" Nadine beamed.

James grinned and side-hugged Nadine. "Thanks."

"Mmm!"

Just then their teacher came back and told everyone to pass their work.

"Wow, who did this?" Their teacher pointed his thumb at the James' painting that was hanging on the wall.

"It was me, sir." James raised his hand.

"This is a great artwork, Mr. Reid! Good job!" Everyone clapped their hands.

"Thanks! But it was actually Nadine here who helped me!" He proudly wrapped his arm on her shoulders and tugged her a bit.

"Where is your work, Ms. Lustre?"

"The one between Maine and Alden's work, sir."

"You could feel the emotions radiating from her work no? Amazing, Ms. Lustre!" -Teacher.

"Thank you, sir." -Nadine.

"You're welcome, now you all may go!" Everyone went outside of their classroom and went to the cafeteria to eat.

"Are you ready to meet, Liza?" Nadine whispers.

"Of course! I miss that little bitch!" Both girls laughed at their funny callsign.
