Trust { Niall Horan }

Chapter 6

I was expecting Riley to pull back from me but instead she kisses me back. She was kissing me back slowly, I felt her wrap her arms around my neck to deepen the kiss. I pulled her closer to me as I wrapped my arms around her waist, our kisses were getting more intense. I needed more of it, of her. I slowly slide my hand down to her thigh gripping it softly, as soon as I did that she flinches and pulls away from me shaking at this point.

I curse at myself looking at her, "I'm...I'm sorry Riley.." I start to apologize to her but before I can finish she takes off running. "Shit." I say a little loud as I follow right behind her, I didn't mean for this to happen. Damn it why did I have to kiss her.

I was scolding myself as I followed her but I'm stopped in my tracks when I notice Jase is struggling to put out a fire in the kitchen. "You're fucking kidding me right now!" I yell loudly glaring at Jase but then my eyes dart back to Riley who's already out of the house.

What the hell should I do? Should I go after her or help Jase out? I was beyond frustrated and annoyed with everything. I wasn't sure if I was sexually frustrated from Riley or just frustrated with Jase over this damn fire. I wanted to go after her and make sure she was okay but I knew I had to stay and help Jase put out this fire before the place burned down.

I run to the closet in the kitchen and pull out the fire extinguisher, praying it would work. "Jase how the fuck did this happen?!" I snap as I put out the fire, it had only burned one cabinet. This is why I couldn't leave him alone in this damn place. He still hadn't answered me so I turn to face him, he's got a weird look on his face. What could it possibly be now?

That's when I realize I'm still in my boxers and he probably saw Riley run out of here crying, "Shit, Jase it's not what you think." I say quickly running my hand through my hair, it was dry at this point. He frowns looking at me, "Then why the hell did she run out crying and you're in your bloody boxers?" Jase was clearly upset but he had the wrong idea.

I start to explain myself to him hoping he'll hear me out, "She was crying before she ran out, she thinks she's a lost cause. I was trying to comfort her and my stupid ass kissed her but she kissed back. Things got intense and I put my hand on her thigh and that was it. She freaked over that and bolted." I was rushing to get my words out and was out of breath when I finished.

Jase nods sighing, meaning that he believed me. Thank god. "Okay but we've got to head to class, so get dressed or we'll be late. Also you've got to try and apologize to her." He says to me walking off to his room to get ready as well.

We somehow manage to get to class on time, we didn't see Riley at all the whole drive here. I was hoping she made it here safely and my thoughts were answered the moment we walked into class. There she was sitting in the back today, I had decided to sit beside her to see if she would talk to me.

Everyone in the class was staring at me confused when I sat next to Riley and started talking to her. I didn't understand why everyone was so against her, what could this tiny, innocent, beautiful green-eyed girl possibly have done to make people hate her.

Before I could even start an actual conversation with her one of the girls in our class named Avery, who I just so happened to date last year, walks up to us. She was dressed in slutty clothes as usual and I questioned why I even dated her. Maybe it's because she was good in bed but now when I look at her I feel disgusted.

Riley stiffens up beside me when Avery speaks, "So Riley, who the hell do you think you are anyways?" Avery was standing over Riley glaring at her and I could tell Riley just wanted to run. "I know you hear me talking to you, or are you hoping Niall right here will save you again?" She says this laughing while she shoves Riley out of her seat. Riley doesn't do anything except just cover her face.

That's when more people from the class gather around her and Avery, they were all waiting to see what would happen next. "You do realize your precious little Niall here isn't who you think he is." Avery says this just as she's about to kick Riley in the stomach but I rush to her and block the kick. I was furious at this point but I had to control it, I couldn't hit a girl.

Avery is taken back by my sudden action to protect Riley but she soon recovers and chuckles softly, "I'm surprised at you Ni, I mean you've chosen to defend a worthless girl like Riley here when you could be on my side. I mean we did date for a while last year and let me tell you, the things that you would do for me just to turn me on." She says smiling at this point not caring what she says.

"Oh shut it Avery, I left you months ago because you're nothing but a worthless piece of shit. I mean the way you would go around and fuck everyone on sight was priceless." I scoff at her and everyone around us is too shocked at my words to say anything. "Also another thing, if any of you don't leave Riley alone after today I'll have to take it upon myself to kick your ass personally." I say, I can hear the venom dripping from my tongue as my anger starts to take over again.

I've had enough of everyone's shit toward Riley so when Liam walks up to me I lower my voice even more glaring at him, "What the hell do you want Payne?" I was clenching my fist together and could feel my knuckles turning white. Liam chuckles smirking at me, "I want to know why you've taken such a liking to this girl. I mean she doesn't even talk to anyone." Shaking my head at him I help Riley up, "Because no one deserves this kind of treatment just for not talking." I was done with this conversation but I could tell Liam wasn't.

That's when Riley is yanked from behind by Todd and shoved over to Liam. She's struggling to get away but Liam only tightens his grip on her causing her to yelp in pain. "You really shouldn't of done that." I growl as I nod at Jase who grabs Todd and restrains him so I'm able to get Liam without any distractions.

Riley catches on to what I'm about to do and manages to stomp hard on Liam's foot and his grip loosens on her letting her slip away. I see my chance and I take it, I land my fist right in the middle of his face sending him stumbling backwards, blooding was coming from his nose now.

Everyone lets out a small gasp, probably because I just punched Liam without thinking but that dick deserved it. I turn toward Riley to make sure she's okay but I only catch her running from the classroom. "Damn.." I take off after her hoping I can get her before she's too far but I'm stopped by someone grabbing my shoulder.

Annoyed I turn around ready to fight again but I stop when I see that it's Jase. "Niall just let her go. She probably needs some time to herself." He says this gently, most likely hoping not to upset me further. "I can't just let her go Jase. I need to make sure she's okay." I say this shaking my head, I just wanted to go after her. "I hardly know her but I feel so drawn to her." I admit to my best friend sinking to the ground.

Jase then nudges me and points to a figure standing a fair distances from us, Riley. All I can do is stare at the beautiful girl, I thought she was long gone but it looks like she came back. "She's a mystery, Niall." Jase said while looking at the girl across the hall from us. "And I plan on finding out" I say to him determined.
