Niall's POV

We were in the car at this point and I had started driving us home. I couldn't believe my mum, how could she just show up and say all those things? All of those hateful things she said to them kept running through my mind. I was trying my best to stay calm but it was so hard to do when it came to her.

I gripped the steering wheel even tighter trying to control my temper because I knew if I spoke I'd go off the rails and I couldn't do that. Not with Riley in the car with me. I was doing so well with keeping my temper in check but my mum really pushed my buttons.

At this point my knuckles were starting to turn white from how hard I was gripping the steering wheel. My mind was racing because I knew my mum would make it her mission to pop up randomly now to irritate me. I didn't want her in my life anymore, why couldn't she understand that? She ruined our family.

We had stopped at a red light when I felt a small hand gently lay on my shoulder. Riley, her touch was so comforting even if she wasn't speaking. I started to relax a little and placed one of my hands over hers. I needed to explain everything to her but I had to do it with Jase around. There was no way I could keep my cool tonight.

We were finally back at my place and I hadn't said a word the whole drive. I just didn't want to say anything to upset Riley, that's the last thing I wanted to do. I had texted Jase telling him everything that had happened and that I planned to tell Riley. She deserved to know as to why I hated my own mum so much.

Once we reached my floor I opened the door for her letting her inside. She didn't even try to talk to me, she could tell something was wrong. "Riley, Niall! I made us all some pizza." Jase says walking out of the kitchen grinning at us both. He was trying to lighten the mood and I simply nodded over to him.

"It better be pepperoni Daniels." Riley says letting a small giggle escape her lips. I noticed she'd rather call us by our last names instead of our first. Jase and I didn't really care, whatever worked for her was fine with us.

Jase gasps and places his hand over his heart acting shocked and hurt. "Of course it is, what kind of person would I be if it wasn't?" He questions making all of us laugh. No matter the situation Jase could always make people laugh.

I looked over at Riley who was covering her mouth from laughing and I couldn't help but smile at her. "Let's eat then we can talk, yeah?" I say to her gently pulling her over the kitchen so we could all sit at the island. "Mhm sure." She says softly as she takes her seat.

Jase had cooked about three pizzas assuming all of us would just eat one ourselves but in the end Jase ate two of them and Riley and I just shared the other. "You're such a fatty." I say to Jase jokingly but also serious at the same time. He was always hungry no mater how much he ate.

Jase pouts looking at me, "I'm not a fatty you big meanie." He had crossed his arms over his chest now and was glaring at me. "Mate chill, you know I'm only joking but seriously how do you manage to eat so much damn food?" I say chuckling some before pulling Riley over to sit on my lap.

I noticed her blushing slightly when I did this and it caused me to chuckle a little at her as well. "Yeah, yeah I know you are and honestly I don't know. I just eat and work out." Jase says shrugging his shoulders. He was right though, he constantly worked out when he got the chance to do so.

After a few minutes I decided to was time to explain everything. I took a deep breath and kissed Riley on her cheek and wrapped my arms around her waist hugging her close to me. I just needed her to be close, that's all I needed right now. "Alright, I think we should talk about my mum." I say to them both and I only receive a nod from Riley and Jase gives me a reassuring smile.
