Niall had taken us to a more remote part of the beach where there was hardly anyone around. It was so peaceful out here and the ocean was beyond beautiful. The sound of the waves in the distance along with the sweet smell of salt water was calming.

We were walking hand in hand along the water just talking. Talking about anything and everything that came to mind. I was so at peace with everything that's been happening in my life these last few months and I have Niall to thank for that. He's helped me in so many ways that he probably doesn't even know about.

My feet had started to get a little hot so I had decided to walk out into the water a bit to cool off. "Riles what are you doing?" Niall asks when he sees me walking off. "My feet are hot." I whine looking over at him. I didn't think the sand would get this hot but I was wrong.

"Well don't take too long. I've got a surprise for you." He says to me as he pulls his phone out of his pocket. I only nodded and continued with what I was doing. I didn't pay much attention to him until I heard his camera on his phone take a picture.

"Hey why'd you do that?" I ask looking over at him now only to him with a huge smile on his face. I walked over to him now waving my hand in front of him to get his attention. "Hey blondie." I say gently ruffling his hair around and that causes him to look up at me.

He's still got that stupid smile on his face, "what're you smiling at?" I asked him curiously trying to see what was on his phone. Niall just pulls me closer to him before he shows me what he has and when I look at it I see that it's the picture of me he just took. "Look how beautiful you are love." He says this while looking at me smiling softly.

I shake my head blushing a deep red, "I'm far from beautiful but thank you Horan." I say grinning slightly, I never actually said his first name much. He was use to it though and he said it didn't bother him. I just liked being the only one who called him Horan.

"Well I think that you look incredibly beautiful today and I'm blessed to get to spend this day with you." Niall says kissing the top of my head softly causing me to blush even more. "So..uh.." I was stumbling over my words trying to think of something to say but nothing came to mind.

He chuckles looking at me, "Come on, I've got a surprise for you." He says gently pulling me with him further on down the beach until we reach something that looks like a picnic to me.

I noticed that there was a nice big blanket spread out on the sand along with a basket, the panda Niall had bought me earlier that day and some balloons attached to the stuffed animal.

There was also something that looked like a picture laying in the pandas lap. I stepped a little closer to it and saw that it was a picture of Niall and I when we first started talking. I assumed Jase took this picture since I don't quite remember it.

Niall was going back and forth on his toes looking at me nervously. "So uh...I know I could've probably done this better but fuck I'm so nervous when it comes to you." He says looking away from me now biting his bottom lip. He looked so cute, damn.

I gently pull him closer to me so I can look at him better. "Hor...Niall. This is perfect, I love it. Thank you." I say to him smiling softly as I kiss his cheek. "You really didn't have to do all this." I say softly leaning against him. I didn't deserve all of this.

I hear him scoff before he whispers to me, "Now what kinda guy would I be if I didn't try to be all romantic and cheesy for my girl." He says letting the words my girl roll from his mouth so easily. "You're girl?" I say rising an eyebrow at him in question.

Niall nods smiling at me, "I...I was wondering if you'd want to be my girlfriend? I've liked you for so long Riles and I finally built up the courage to ask you." He says this rushing his words out, he was a nervous wreck and it was adorable. I never really got to see him like this so I was enjoying it.

After I let him squirm around a bit I finally answer him. "Of course I'll be your girlfriend Horan. I'd be stupid not to be, I mean you are pretty hot." I say this stepping closer to him, his lips inches from mine. I ended up tripping over my own feet causing us both to laugh. "And you're not so bad yourself Woods." He says before pulling me even closer and finally closing the gap between our lips.

The kiss was soft and sweet but only lasted a moment when we heard someone calling Niall's name. I knew it was a females voice but I wasn't sure who it belonged to. When I looked in the direction of the voice I saw a short, blonde haired woman walking towards us.

Niall automatically stiffens beside me when he looks at the woman. He hand intertwined our fingers together earlier but now he was squeezing them together pretty hard causing me to flinch some. "Mum..what are you doing here?" He says through clenched teeth, from what I can tell he doesn't get along with her that well.

"Oh honey don't look at me like that. I've missed you." His mother says as she tries to pull him in for a hug but he just takes a step back gently pulling me with him. She frowns at him then turns to me. "And who might you be? A friend of my sons?" She questioned while she looked me up and down. I could feel her judging me.

I hated meeting new people but she is Niall's mum so I had to be considerate. "Actually I'm his girlfriend, Riley." I say to her giving her a small smile, Niall doesn't say anything to her. He just pulls me closer to him as he tries to calm down. I had no clue what happened between them to make him like this but I didn't like it.

Her face falls when the word girlfriend leaves my mouth, "Niall, you know you can find much better than that." She says this while glaring at me like I was the worst person alive. "Like that nice rich girl from your religion class. I mean at least she isn't covered in scars." I could tell she didn't care what she said at this point. She was just out to hurt someone's feelings.

"Where did you even find this girl? Some halfway house?" Once those words leave her mouth Niall is pushing me behind him and approaching his mother, he's pissed.

Niall was in her face now glaring at her and she didn't seem phased by it. "Don't you dare try to bring her down. You know nothing about her mother." He was basically growling at her. "I know enough just by looking at her. She isn't good enough for you." His mother simply states shrugging her shoulders.

He was trying so hard to control his anger but it was getting too hard for him to do so. "Damnit woman, I don't care about social status. Riley makes me happy, she's who I want to be with and last I checked I'm going to be 23 in a few months. I can date who I want." He spat staring her downs and I noticed her taking a few steps back now.

Without thinking I instantly go to him and hug him from behind, I just wanted him to calm down. "Babe..." He mutters while leaning against me, he had started to relax some but he didn't take his eyes off his mum. "I think it's time for you to leave." I say to her sternly, I couldn't allow her to stress Niall out anymore like this.

I watch the woman before as her face scrunches up into a frown, "You two won't last that long. You've both got problems." She says this while laughing before she turns to walk away from us. "Take care Niall, hope to see you soon." She says carelessly before she's completely out of sight.

"Come on..lets go home. There's some things we need to talk about now." Niall says softly letting out a small sigh before stepping away from me to gather up the picnic we never got to enjoy. Of course someone just had to come along and ruin everything for us.
