Niall's POV

It was nearly 1 am when I finally reached my apartment, I was more than glad I had moved into my own place a few months ago or my mum would have my ass right now. If I wasn't so worried about that girl, Riley I think was her name, I would've been home hours ago. I didn't even plan on going to class in the first place but I had a feeling something was going to happen so I went. Looks like I was right.

"I better get some rest before classes." I mumble to myself as I change from my clothes and I notice there's blood on my shirt. I instantly think back to Riley's beaten body and it makes me shudder.

How could someone endure a beating like that? It's like she's use to this and as soon as that thought crosses my mind I curse slightly to myself. "There's no way in hell this happens to her all the time." I say in a low growl becoming upset over the idea of someone constantly hitting her.

I needed to try and help her, I had to do something. I didn't care if I hardly knew her, no one should have to go through something like that.

As I planned out in my head what I was going to do for her I soon fall fast asleep and even in my dreams she's the only thing on my mind at the moment. Who exactly was the tiny girl?

-

I was watching the tiny girl fumble around with her hands until she suddenly jumps up, startling me. "I...uh..I have to go. It's late and...uh...bye." Riley stumbles over her words before she takes off running not giving me enough time to speak.

All I can do is watch her run off, I didn't really know her so it's not like I could just follow her home to make sure she was okay.

Maybe I should've followed her? No I should've, there was no question about it. The fear that was clear in her green eyes was heartbreaking. The bruises that were all over her body were unbearable to look at and I felt bad for her. How could people be so cruel?

"Yo Niall wake your ass up or you're gonna be late!" Jase yells as he swings my bedroom door opening waking me up from my dream. "Dude what the fuck?" I curse slightly glaring at him, I had no intention of getting up at this time but Jase had other plans it seemed like.

That's when the smell of food hits me, he had brought breakfast over. I sit up in bed looking over at him, "Alright what did you do?" I say questioning him as I gesture towards the food he was holding out for me.

Jase had went almost out of town to get my favorite food from my favorite pancake place, yeah he definitely did something. When he doesn't answer I ask him again, "Jase seriously what the hell did you do??" I say raising my voice, this was getting annoying.

Jase watches me closely before he speaks, "okay don't be mad but I kinda told your mother mother that we'd go over to her house next weekend for a family dinner." He says this so quickly I have to ask him to repeat himself and when he does I start yelling, "Why would you do that!?! You know we're not on good terms!" I spat, standing up taking two long strides over to him but I stop dead in my tracks when I see he's also holding a picture of me from when I was younger.

I snatch the picture from him and look at it closely. It was of me, my mother and father. While I was looking at the photo I tried my best to fight back the tears as memories of my childhood came flooding back.

-

I was around the age of 17 and school had just gotten out for the summer. Jase and I had already planned out our entire summer together. We've known each other since birth actually so we were basically family.

I had a pretty normal childhood growing up. My house was a pretty decent size, it was big enough for me to have my own room and I was able to decorate it any way that I pleased. I had an older sister but she had moved away a few years ago. So it was just me and parents but they were hardly home these days. Always gone for work or something like that so I would always go to Jase's place.

This day though was different from every other one I've experienced this year. My mother, who had stayed home today for some reason made sure I was going to be gone all day. I didn't really mind since I would be with my best friend but my father had come home early apparently and that's when everything changed.

I remember that day clearly because my dad had picked me up from my friends house and took me home. We were going to watch the game together but the moment we walked through the door I saw something I could never un see. My mother was with another man, not as in a friend like he should've been but he was a "friend" to her if you get what I mean.

Shortly after all of that unraveled my father left me and my mother. He told her to never speak to him again and not to worry about trying to make time for me and him to see each other because he was never coming back.

That was also the day I stopped talking to my mum, she caused my own father to want nothing more to do with me. I hated her so much for that and spent everyday before I was old enough to move out avoiding her. I was hurt.

Snapped back from my thoughts I glare hard at Jase, "Fucking hell if you think I'm going to that woman's house then you're insane." I snap coldly at him turning around to change into some shorts and a hoodie along with some tennis shoes. Since I was up this early and already pissed I was going to go for a run. I had to do something to calm down.

A/N: Possibly a double update today if I get the chance to do so (:
