Chapter 22

Nialls POV

Today was the day. I had to meet the girl my mum set me up with. I was going to reject the engagement, I had to. I was in love with Riley. There was no way in hell I was going to marry someone else just because my mum said so. I was going to fight for what we have.

I was dressed in simple clothes. I didn't want to make a big deal about this really. I just wanted to get this other with. I checked my phone, Riley had texted me saying they were about to pull up. Just as I read that message I hear Jase's car along with Liam's pull up and park beside me.

Jase and Riley get out of his car while Liam and two other British looking lads climb out of his. I'm assuming these are the friends he was talking about. Right away I could tell that the two were in a relationship. How could this even work if they're not even straight?

"Hey you okay?" Riley asks once she's by my side. I just nod giving her a small smile and pull her into my arms holding her close. I was nervous but I didn't want to admit it. Asking for help from my father and the others was hard enough.

"I love you." I say planting a small kiss on her lips, her oh so soft lips that I wish I could just kiss forever. Riley was perfect in every way and I was going to do my best to keep her.

She blushes instantly and kisses me back before pulling away, "and I love you Horan." I could hear the others behind us making gagging sounds and Jase making whatever the fuck sound it was he was making.

"Okay, let's go. It's time." I say to everyone and they just nod in response and follow behind me. I had no clue who I was meeting, I was going in blind.

The walk inside the building was silent and tense just like the ride to my dad's house but this silence was different. It was like we were waiting for the worst to happen but praying for the best. Everyone is silent because we're all thinking the same thing. Everyone is thinking, IS this plan going to work? Can we really pull this off?

When we walk through the huge doors I spot my mum standing by a desk waiting for me. She was smiling at me as I walked over to her but that quickly fades into and frown when she sees Riley right by my side.

"What is she doing here?" My mum practically hissed. She clearly was not fond of Riley and I didn't understand why.

"She is Riley mum and Riley is my girlfriend. Like I told you before I'm not going through with this engagement." I say this as I hug Riley close to me. I was starting to get a bit more nervous so I was trying to cover it up.

My mum just shakes her head and jerks me over to her, "Let's go. We need to discuss everything with the girl and her father." I just follow her not saying a word. I still didn't know who this girl was or what she even looked like.

She takes us towards an office that's all the way in the back of the building. It looked like a conference room. "Here we are." My mum says as she opens the door so we can walk in.

Once inside the room I noticed a red haired girl sitting in a chair and across from her is an older man. Her father I'm guessing. He looked like one of those men who could get whatever he wanted just with money. That's probably how this arrangement was set up.

"Nice of you to join us. I'm Mr. Adam and this is my daughter Rue. I assume you're Niall Horan." Mr. Adams says giving off a weird grin. I didn't like this man already and his daughter hasn't taken her eyes off me since we walked in.

"I'm only here because I want to turn down your offer. I'm already with someone, I'm sorry." Once the words leave my mouth Rue lets out a small laugh shaking her head. The way she did that sends a rush of anger through me.
