My first day of school was in the middle of most people's school year. And trust me, I was not happy about it. I came from the city right next door so it really wasn't that scary entering San Antonio high school. Except for the fact that I was younger than everyone else in my grade. I was advanced. People usually thought that was cool. But not when San Antonio High School was full of a bunch of kids who could care less about education. I feared for the day when someone would call me lame. But, I guess I knew I was.

I got dropped off early to examine things; find out where I'd sit outside in the morning. But after awhile of sitting and straightening my shirt, some girls appeared. One had bleached blonde hair and blue eyes, while the other one had tanned skin and almost black hair.

"You're sitting in our spot.."

The blonde one tapped her foot and waited for me to move.

I slowly stood up and stared at the ground. If all the people here act like this, I'm gonna have a lot of fun. Sike.

"She has to be a freshman," the black haired girl whispered to the Barbie.

"Even freshmans would know that."

I awkwardly stood there and stared at the ground, hoping that my desperateness would make them feel bad for me.

"You new here, bud?"

I nodded. Their rude expressions turned into ones with sorrow when they walked me inside.

"Oh honey, do your parents care about you?"

"Uh.. Yeah? I think so."

"Well they must not because you look like a hot mess right now."

My hair was brushed and parted. My make up done too. And to top it off, a nice outfit that probably cost more than anything I owned at home.

"You look really pretty. Say, what's your name?"

"I- uh. Jaida. It's pronounced jay-duh but-"

"Okay cool. My name is Makayla and the Mexican one is Vanessa.."
