He started opening his eyes a bit. They told me to talk to him, to get him to focus on something.
"Hey Red, can you tell me your favorite color?" I asked.
He nodded.
"Red."
I asked him simple questions, and he answered them with no problem.
"I'm not stupid, ya know." he said.
I smiled.
"Yeah, I know you're not stupid. Do you know what happened?"
He shook his head no. He closed his eyes.
"You overdosed. You're really smooth around the ladies." Robert said sarcastically.
Red's eyes quickly opened.
"Watch your fuckin mouth, bro. You don't want me to kick your ass again."
I squeezed his hand, signaling him to stop.
"Sorry." he whispered.
I sat there staring at him some more. I really wanted to know what he was hiding. I know him. I know that he has so much to say, but he can't trust anyone. He kind of pushes people away once you get to know him better.
"Ahh." he whispered in pain.
"What?" I asked.
"My neck... It stings a little,"
I stared at his neck and saw a bloody mess. I held my breath, because screaming would probably cause him to panic. But he needed something on it. It had been there for a long time, and he didn't do anything to take care of it.
reds povI overdosed. But how? It was a small bag. I couldn't get harmed from a pocket sized bag. I was in so much pain. I hadn't really taken care of my neck. It's been a while since 'Creep' stabbed me. It was horrible. I never thought he'd do something like that. Something told me that I should talk to Jaida about what has happened in my life, but I can't trust anyone. Not after my mom left without telling a word.

Red loved Jaida. I wanted to accept it, but I couldn't. It reminded me of the relationship Red and I had. I got attached to him, but he left me. Sometimes, I tell myself that if Jaida wasn't around, he'd still love me. He seemed different when he was around Jaida. He respected her, and worshiped the floors she walked on. Jaida didn't understand how bad she could hurt him. She didn't understand that he will end up getting hurt, or the other way around.
I was there when Red needed someone to talk to.
I was there when Red ran away from home.
I was there when Red started working for Rocco. We were 13.
I was there when Red met Jaida, and I wasn't happy at all.
Let's go back;
It was Fright Fest. I wore this devil costume. The same one Jaida was wearing that night.
"Do I look cute?" I asked, smiling at him.
He wasn't even looking at me. He was looking at Jaida. She was at the booth getting drinks. His eyes followed every step she took to the booth.
"Damn," he whispered.
"Uhm... I'll be back." He said.
I saw him walk right up to the booth. She went to pull out some money, but he insisted on paying for her. What a jerk. He just wants her because she's easy. He took her hand and pulled her into the forest. He sat there surprised. His mouth was wide open. He watched her walk away until he couldn't see her any more.
"Red, my mom wants me to go home... Can you walk with me?"
"Naw, me and the crew are gonna stay here a bit."
I walked home in the cold. I had no jacket. Leaves flew around. My hair was in my face. I could hardly see anything. Something was telling me I should have stayed at the Fright Fest.
"Is this devil costume for me?" A voice called from inside a car.
I looked over. It was Rocco.
"Go away." I told him.
Rocco had messed up a lot of things in Red's life. I couldn't stand the sight of him, honestly. I started walking home, ignoring his requests.
"But you look like you're struggling. Just let me give you a ride home, devil."
The ride turned into something else. Let's just say....
I didn't go home that night.
