Everyday I sat in Red's hospital room, making sure that he was okay, and got whatever he needed. He hated hospitals, and he hated telling people what was wrong, because he always felt like he didn't need help. He was beyond independent.
Today was the day. He was leaving the hospital. It was a relief for both me and Red. All he wanted to do was go home.
"Just make sure he uses this inhaler for about a week. His lungs are still getting better, so don't make him move much either. Just give him these medications atleast every hour or so. Don't give him both medications at the same time, or he will start to uh..Hallucinate, overdose or become extremely exhausted," the doctor quietly said to me. He didn't want Red to hear, because knowing Red, he'd purposely overdose, or try and get high off of the medication.
I'm letting him sleep over at my house. I don't want his dad bothering him when he's slightly hurting.
"Thanks for letting me sleep here. Please tell Jaida what happened next time you see her."
"You don't want to tell her yourself?" I asked.
He shrugged and jumped out the car, running into my home.
I was left alone to talk to her. Greeeat.
/jaidas pov/
Silent, and boring; That expressed my life. No one has talked to me in about 4 days, and I've just been sitting in my room doing homework, and dancing stupidly to random songs on my phone. But today was different. Today had to be awesome. I have been taking Drivers Ed classes for awhile now, and now is the big day. The driving test. The test that will shape my whole future. I'll be able to drive all the time, even though I kind of already do that... Oops. But, atleast if I get in an accident, I'll be able to show them my ID. I hope my ID picture isn't messed up. I need to stop worrying. I'll end up failing the test. Speaking of worrying, I wonder where Robert and Red are. I haven't been able to talk to them in about 8 days, but I'm going to give them space. I feel like I'm being clingy.
I straightened my hair perfectly, and made sure that my outfit was sure to change my instructors mind just in case things went wrong during the test. I stared into the mirror, fixing everything that needed fixing. Finally, I was out the door.
My phone began to ring.
"Red told me to apologize and tell you everything that happened and let me start of by saying that Red and I never went to a hotel. Red got beaten by Rocco. Red went to the hospital. He's fine now. I'm sorry I couldn't tell you before hand." Robert said so quickly, it was almost impossible to understand him.
"What?-"
The call got disconnected. As I drove to the building "that will shape my future," I tried calling Robert again, but it went to voicemail each time. I began to worry. Worrying isn't good for my test, and I just kept on worrying and worrying, and it got hard to focus on the road. But I made it to the building perfectly in time for my test. I got greeted by formal looking woman, who told me all the rules of being on the road. I took a deep breath and smoothly drove down the street. She hadn't said anything bad, which was good. I was trying really hard not to focus on what happened to Red.
Was he okay? Am I overreacting? Why didn't they tell me the truth?
"Ma'am, please drive on the right side of the road," the instructor said.
I gently drove onto the right side of the road.
Everything went alright, and then my phone rang.
I went to grab it, but the instructor slapped it away.
"Why would you use your phone while driving?!"
I smiled awkwardly.
"Can you atleast read it to me?" I asked her.
"Fight time. Ding ding ding! Rocco vs. Austin."
Austin? Maybe they're mixing things up. It must be Red, it can't be Austin. I may think Austin is pretty creepy for sitting there and telling me he was Red, but I kinda care about him. I mean, beside from the life switching part, sometimes he could be nice, and show me things that Red never really did for me. Like buying me flowers, and singing for me occasionally. I felt stupid for not realizing it quicker than Tailyn did, but oh well.
"Jaida! Right side of the road!"
I swerved quickly onto the right side.
"5 minutes left of your test." she added.
The phone rang again, and the instuctor rolled her eyes.
"Your dad called."
The man who hasn't talked to me in a year. The man who left my mom for a celebrity. The man who obviously couldn't care less about me. He called.
When I parked in the parking lot of the building, the instructor sighed.
"Well, Ms.Faye, you failed."
I already knew I did. I turned to walk away, to avoid her from seeing my tears.
"But I understand."
I looked at her crazily.
"When your mother was around your age, she met your father. He was so handsome. So dangerous, and such a player. He would love your mother, yet love three other woman at the same time. But she stayed. She wasn't always aware of what was going on, but she caught onto it. She was in love, and she was willing to make the relationship last as long as possible."
"Why are you talking about this? I don't know you. You don't know me, or my family."
"Jaida, you're going through a lot, this is why I'm letting you pass. Here is your certificate. Give it to the man at the front desk, and he'll take your picture for your ID."
"This is coming from one of your mom's oldest friends. I stuck to her side for so long, until you were born. That was when I couldn't stay her friend any longer. Your father had cheated numerous times, and she knew. Once she got pregnant with you, she was certain he would stay. And I knew he wouldn't. But just listen to me... You're living her life right now. You're dating a bad boy. Yeah, it can be cool, but just think.. He could be cheating on you. You're a beautiful young girl, and I don't think you deserve any of this. Red has a horrible reputation around here. He's robbed stuff from my house tons of times. He's done drugs, and he's hurt my daughter. He used her for money, and then soon after, she caught him hooking up with her best friend, Makayla." she added.
"...Makayla..?"
"She's known around here, too. 'New girls are my new friends,' is her motto. She meets all types of girls, and she befriends them. She has had a crush on Red for years, and when Red meets a new girl and wants to drop them, he'll use Makayla as a hint that he wants the relationship to be over. Makayla knows she won't have a faithful relationship with Red, but as long as she can hook up with him momentarily, I guess she'll be fine."
"Red won't cheat on me. He loves me. He told me that I'm the girl he's had the longest relationship with. He told me that I'm his."
She giggled.
"That's one that I'm sure he's used on every girl,"
"What do you know anyways? Your daughter sounds like a bitch. She doesn't know what she's talking about and I'm 100% sure that she's lying to make him seem like the horrible person. She knows she's the one that ruined the relationship. Makayla has nothing to do with this. She did not hook up with Red.. Nope. You're a lying fucktard."
Her eyes got wide.
"Give me the certificate back. You don't deserve it."
"I deserve every bit of it!" She grabbed my hair, and attempted to pull me down, but I kicked her with the heel of my stiletto, and she flew into the Drivers Test Car. She left a large dent on the side of it. I ran in my high heels, getting to the building in time to hand him my certificate.
"Come on in and get your picture."
