Ch. 16: The Cold

Garroth's POV

Aphmau and I finished our breakfast. She decided to change her clothes before we went to my apartment to get her stuff back. Aphmau said we should stop looking for Laurance and give him his space. I guess she was right. We were about to leave my apartment.

"Hey Garroth! Did I bring anything else to your apartment!" She yelled from the guest bedroom.

"No! I don't see any of your belongings in here!" I yelled back to her. She came out with her bags.

"So are we heading back to my apartment to put these bags back?" She asked.

"Ummmm, I guess we should...." I said. "But before we do, I need to get something." I went into my room and grabbed a jacket and walked back into the living room.

"Ummm, why do you have a jacket?" She asked with a conflicted look on her face. "Hopefully you do realize that it's pretty warm outside..."

"It was warm. I looked up the weather and it's strange how it got cold instantly. Did you bring a jacket?" I asked her.

"No. It was warm outside..." She said.

"You can use my jacket...." I said.

"Let's play a game. Let's see if it's cold outside. If I go out there and I don't need your jacket, you owe me..... 20 dollars!" She said. Wait! 20 dollars!!!

"20 dollars!!!!! What if I win?!?" I asked.

"If I give in and I need your jacket I owe you 20 dollars....got it?" She asked.

"Hmmm, fine! Deal!" I said. I walked over to the door and opened it. She stuck out her tongue at me and started laughing as she walked out of my apartment.
We made it to the lobby of the building and walked to the door.

"You ready to lose." She said.

"I'm ready to win!" I said as I opened the door. Suddenly a huge gust of wind blew in our faces! I'm not kidding when I say huge!!!! I looked at Aphmau and she was about to fall!!! She slipped but I caught her by her waist. I looked into her eyes while she looked into mine.

"S-so...did I-I win...." I stuttered. I didn't stutter because it was cold. I stuttered because I'm the shyest person in the world!!!! I helped her up.

"I haven't given up yet." She said as she ran outside with her bag.

"Aphmau! Wait!" I said as I ran outside. I saw her stop on the sidewalk. I ran up to her. She grabbed on to me.

"Ok! I give in! It's cold!" She said. She let go of me and I took off my jacket and handed it to her. I instantly regretted doing that but she needed it more.

"Garroth...you wear it...." She said.

"No...I insist... You wear it...." I said. She put it on.

"Thanks...." She said.

"Hey you owe me 20 dollars!" I said.

"Yeah.... I lied about that....sorry." She said. I knew it!

"I knew you did...." I said.
