Chapter 13
The Note
Adrian Monk (POV)
__________________________
"It looks pretty dark down there." Mr. Monk said, as soon as Ron, Hermione, and Rose descended the stairs and were out of sight.
"I'm sure they're fine." Natalie said, glancing over his shoulder, and then looking around the room, "Ron and Hermione can do magic anyways. Let's check that room." She said, pointing to a room to their left. Mr. Monk was still staring uncertainly down the stairs, as Natalie started to enter the room. "What is it?" Natalie asked, realizing that Monk wasn't following her.
"It feels like something's wrong." He replied, still staring into the basement, where they could see a faint glow.
"They're fine." Natalie said, pulling him into the next room, "Anyway, aren't we supposed to be checking this floor?" She pushed open the door, and Mr. Monk gasped in horror. This room was messier than the rest of the floor. He immediately rushed forward, and started straightening out books, tables, chairs, and basically everything in the room.
"Mr. Monk, what are you doing?!" Natalie shrieked.
"I'm cleaning up. I'm sure the owners will thank me later." Mr. Monk said, still cleaning the room.
"No, no, no! Leave everything as it is!" Natalie said, rushing forward, snatching a pile of papers out of his hands, "Think of this as a crime scene! Don't touch anything!"
"I can't help it." Mr. Monk said, trying to pull the stack of papers out of Natalie's hands.
"What, like when you mopped up the blood scene during that murder case?!" Natalie retorted, tightening her grip on the pile of papers.
"I can't help it." He repeated pulling the papers out of Natalie's hands, causing them to scatter all over the floor.
"Great, now you've made a bigger mess." Mr. Monk said, kneeling down on the floor, gathering up all the papers. Natalie sighed, rolling her eyes. As he was picking up the papers, one of them caught his eye, and he stopped.
"What is it?" Natalie asked, noticing that Mr. Monk had stopped cleaning up. He picked up the piece of paper, and slowly stood up.
"Look at this." He said, showing the note to Natalie. Both peering at the paper, they read:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
YOUR FRIENDS ARE IN DANGER. THEY NEED YOUR HELP.
LOOK IN THE BOOK.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mr. Monk and Natalie glanced at each other shocked.
"Who wrote this?" Mr. Monk asked himself, examining the paper.
"More importantly, our friends are in danger." Natalie contradicted.
"The book. The book shows the future, the past, and the present right?" Mr. Monk said, turning to Natalie, shoving the note in his pocket, "Did you bring the book?"
"Yeah, I have it right here." Natalie replied, pulling the black book out of her purse, and handing it to Mr. Monk. He immediately began flipping through the book until he came to the end of Chapter 3. After that page, the rest of the book was blank, awaiting more adventures to come. It read:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lord Voldemort stood near the doorway, his wand out, trapping Harry, the Doctor, Jack, and Rapunzel in the room.
Meanwhile in the basement:
Rose and Hermione slowly turned around to face the Weeping Angels, on the verge of attack. They both let out a petrified scream.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Weeping An-?" Mr. Monk started to say, but was cut short by a petrified scream, that echoed throughout the household.
