Chapter 16

The Abandoned Building

Harry Potter (POV)

"Where are we?" Harry panted, looking around him. They had been running for nearly half an hour, and found themselves on the edge of the forest, near some houses with overgrown lawns.

"I...have no...idea." Mr. Monk panted, catching his breath.

"I think this is the abandoned street Jamie told me about. No one ever goes here." Jack said, looking around.

"Why is it abandoned?" Rose asked.

"I don't know." Jack replied.

"Great! We end up at an abandoned, filthy neighborhood, while being chased by murderers!" Mr. Monk said sarcastically.

"Hey! At least we aren't dead!" Natalie said.

"Really? Let's review the situation." Mr. Monk said sarcastically, "We don't have the Tardis. Which was our only transportation, and had my luggage! All my food and water! What am I going to eat and drink?! And we're in a creepy neighborhood, where there is no clean place to sleep. We're as good as dead!"

"Mr. Monk!" Natalie said reproachfully, "I'm sure we can find food and water somewhere!"

"And as for a place to sleep, we could camp out in one of these buildings." Hermione said, gesturing to the buildings.

"But they won't be clean!" Mr. Monk exclaimed.

"Me, Hermione, and Harry can clean them." Ron said, "I know some cleaning spells."

"Fine! Which building?" Mr. Monk exclaimed. They all looked around at all the buildings. All of them looked haunted.

"How about that one?" Rose suggested, pointing to a large house, with overgrown hedges that gave it an eery look, but hid it from view.

"Maybe." The Doctor muttered, "Let's check it out." They started to make their way toward the house. Once they make it to the front door, the Doctor twisted the knob, and pushed open the door. There was a small patch of light coming from the door. The Doctor flipped the switch near the door, and the lights flickered on, casting a faint glow around the room.

"Are you sure there's no one else in here?" Rose asked cautiously, looking around the room. There was a chandelier hanging from the ceiling, covered in cobwebs. Everything was dusty. The floor, the furniture, everything was covered in dust. Hermione muttered something under her breath, and Harry felt the same tingling sensation he had felt in Jamie's house, and Sirius's house two years ago.

"There's no one here, except us." Hermione said quietly. There was suddenly soft squealing, squeaking like sound. Harry looked around, trying to locate the noise, and his eyes landed on Mr. Monk. He was smiling a very weird, forced smile, and seemed to be making the noise.

"Mr. Monk? Are you alright?" Rapunzel asked uncertainly, staring curiously at Mr. Monk. Mr. Monk blinked several times, and looked at Rapunzel.

"What?" he said.

"Are you alright?" Rapunzel repeated.

"Of course I'm alright. Why wouldn't I be?" He replied, looking at everyone confused.

"Well, you were making some kind of noise." Jack said.

"I was? I don't think so." Mr. Monk said.

"Moving on," The Doctor said, "I think we should find some place to sleep. We can worry about food, and water later." At that moment, Ron's stomach made a low grumbling sound.
