The Fire

(Soda's POV)

Weeks have gone by, and there's no sign of Pony. Darry has been an emotional wreck all week. I have bawled every night before I go to sleep.

Scar, well she just is trying to cheer us up. She doesn't understand any of this. She has hope he will come back. She walked into the kitchen, smiled, and said, "Good morning Soda. Sleep well?" I said, "Yeah, a little."

She looked down and I said, "Princess, you ok?" She sighed and said, "Soda, I miss him." I said, "Me too. Do you think he'll be back?" She said, "Yeah. Can I tell you something?"

I said, "Yeah, what is it?" She came by me and whispered in my ear, "I spoke to mommy and daddy last night." I said, "What did they say." I said, "To not worry, and they told me where Pony was at and that him and Johnny are in danger."

I couldn't take it anymore. I said, "Scar enough! Darry was right mommy and daddy are dead and it's impossible for you to communicate with them!"

She stepped back her eyes all watery. She said, "I thought I was your princess. I thought you believed me. I know where he is." I sighed and said, "No, you don't." I said, "Yes, I do."

Darry came in and said, "What's happening?" She said, "I'm not Soda's princess, he doesn't believe me, and I know where Pony and Johnny are!" Darry said, "How?"

She had tears streaming down her face, but she managed to say, "Mommy and Daddy told me, but you and Soda don't believe me. Well, guess what? I'm going to prove it." With that my little Princess, ran away.

(Scar's POV)
(Dream)

"Scar, Scar." I looked up and said, "Who's there?" The woman said, "It's mommy and daddy." I smiled and said, "Mommy and daddy, I missed you guys!"

They looked at each other and daddy said, "Scar, we know where your brother is." I said, "Oh Soda? He's doing fine." He said, "No, Pony we know where he is."

I said, "Where? Please tell me!" Mommy said, "Dallas Winston told Johnny and Ponyboy to go to the church on top of Jay Mountain. Dallas is going to meet them there today."

I said, "Jay Mountain?" Mommy said, "Yes, Sweetie, please bring them back home for us. Their lives are in danger." I said, "I will do it." Daddy smiled and said, "Now go, spread the news."
(End of Dream)

Now, I am on the hunt. To find Pony and Johnny at Jay Mountain. Who knows where they are? Dallas! That's it! I'll go with him.

I ran to Buck Merrils place. Darry always told me never to go here, but I have to. I have to do this for Pony and Johnny.

I knocked on the door and this tall man opened it. He said, "What do you want?" I said, "To see Dallas Winston right away, mister." He said, "Let me go get him."

After a couple of minutes, Dally came outside with me. I said, "Dally, can you take me to Jay Mountain?" He looked at me and said, "How did you know Pony and Johnny were there?"

I said, "Mommy and Daddy told me in my dream." He said, "Yeah whatever. I'm riding up to go see them. Come with me." He opened the passenger seat and I shook my head.

He said, "What? Never rode up front before?" I shook my head again. He said, "Fine, but only because if anything happened to you Soda would kill me." He shut the passenger door and opened the back door. I gladly hopped in.

He took his hands off the wheel and said, "Check this out." He was going off the side of the rode. I screamed as loud as I could. He put his hands back on the wheel and said, "What was that for?"

I said, "Well, I don't want to die!" He laughed and said, "You dig ok." I smiled and said, "Thanks." The whole way there I kept asking, "Are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet?" which drove him bananas.

A couple hours after, we arrived. The church was very dirty. I walked in the doorway, and immediately startled giggling. Pony and Johnny woke up. Pony had blond hair.

I yelled, "PONY, JOHNNY, I FOUND YOU GUYS!" Pony hopped up and hugged me. He said, "I missed you, sweetheart." I said, "I missed you too." I looked over and stopped hugging Pony. I ran and hugged Johnny and said, "I missed you, Johnny!" He smiled and said, "You to, kid."

He looked over and said, "Hey Dal, how have you been?" He said, "I'm good." We sat there and talked for awhile and then Dally asked, "So who's hungry?" They both said, "Me," at the same time.

I giggled and we were off to DQ. My favorite restaurant ever! While we were sitting there eating Dally pulled out a gun. I screamed and he covered my mouth. He said, "Shut your trap kid. It ain't loaded."

I relaxed a little after that. Than, two girls came over to our vehicle. The taller one said, "Do you have 15 cents?" Dally said, "No, I don't have any money man." That was just rude!

She said, "Do you have a dime?" He said, "Get out of here!" I said, "Dal, be polite! Here you go." I handed her a dime and she smiled and said, "Thanks." I said, "No problem." She walked off after that.

Dally mentioned a spy to, named Cherry Valance the one that helped me. Sent chills down my spine thinking of her meany dead boyfriend Bob.

Johnny said, "We're going back. We're going to turn ourselves in. I got a good chance of being let off easy like you just said it was strictly self defense Pony and Cherry could testify to that."

Dally said, "Are you sure this is what you want?" Johnny said, "Yeah this is what I want. It's not fair for Darry and Soda worrying about Ponyboy all the time and I don't think my folks are worried about me or nothing."

Dally said, "Cmon man. The boys are worried. Did you know that Two-bit wanted to go to Texas to hunt for you." It's true the fourth day they were gone we had to stop Two-bit from getting in his car because he wanted to go to Texas.

Johnny and Dally argued all the way till we got back to the church, but this time it was different. The church was on fire. Pony hopped out of the car than Johnny than me.

There were kids in the building my age I didn't want to see them die. We went in the building and the black smoke made it to where you couldn't see clearly. I said, "Pony, Johnny, y'all go that way and get as many kids as possible. I'll get these over in the corner to follow me over there."

Pony said, "Are you sure?" I said, "There's not enough time we have to do this now." They nodded and we went to our positions. Kids were screaming, crying, and some were unconscious. I got all mine out of the corner and out of the building.

I told Johnny to go. He left behind Pony. The smoke was too much for me and the roof was caving in. Johnny came in and swept me up (bridal style) and carried me out.
I blacked out after that.
