Scar's POV

It felt like hours had gone by, when we pulled up to this small blue painted house. (Picture at the top) Mrs. Sydney opened her car door and said, "This is your new home for awhile."

I opened my car door, closed it, and got my bag out the trunk. The house didn't look big, but just a little small.

It had steps leading up to the front door, a wide front porch, and windows at the top. I said, "Are there any Socs or Greasers here?" She said, "No, this place is not like Tulsa. Here it's nice and quiet."

Mrs. Sydney said, "Ok Scar, the person that will be taking care of you is Miss Ashley. She is a very sweet lady. She will introduce you to the rest of the kids."

I said, "Ok." She knocked on the door. A lady who I'm guessing was Miss Ashley answered. She said, "Hello Scar, my names Miss Ashley. Please come in."

Mrs. Sydney said, "I have to go, but I will be back in a couple of days to check up on you. Ok?" I smiled and said, "Yes mam."

She told Miss Ashley goodbye and than she left. Miss Ashley said, "Oh, let me go call the girls down." She went upstairs and a few minutes later came out with three girls.

Two of them looked older than me, but the other one looked smaller. She said, "This is Mia. She's sixteen years old." I shook her hand. Miss Ashley said, "This is Alyssa. She's fourteen years old." She shook my hand and smiled at me. That smile reminded me of Soda's smile always happy go lucky. Miss Ashley continued, "And this is Faith. She's three years old."

Miss Ashley said, "Girls this is Scarlet Curtis. She will be living with us for awhile. Alyssa show her around, and make sure she doesn't have any questions."

She said, "Yes mam." Mia grabbed Faith's hand and went upstairs. Alyssa said, "So Scarlet. You can share a room with me." I said, "Thanks, and my friends call me Scar." She said, "Ok. Well than Scar." She picked up my bags and said, "Follow me."

I followed her upstairs and we went into a room. It had two beds, one with Alyssa's stuff and one empty.

She said, "You will be sleeping over here." She put my stuff down on the empty bed. Alyssa said, "Ok, before you get unpacked and everything let me show you around."

She grabbed my hand and took me downstairs. I already know we're going to be best friends. She showed me where the bathroom, living room, kitchen, and bedrooms were.

While I was unpacking, she looked at me and said, "Hey, can you keep a secret?" I said, "Yes." She said, "Ok well, I'm starting to like this guy." I smiled and said, "Who?" She said, "That guy who works at the DX with movie star good looks. I can't remember his name."

I said, "Sodapop?" She said, "Yeah, that's it! But I don't know if he even knows who I am." She than noticed something, "Hey didn't you win The Voice?"

I said, "Yes, I did." She said, "Well, what are you doing here?" I said, "My parents died a couple years ago, and they put my older brother Darry in charge of me and my brothers, but something happened one night. I don't really want to talk about it, but they split us up for it. And now I'm here."

She said, "I'm sorry I didn't know." I said, "That's ok." She said, "But didn't you win a scholarship to the Manhattan School of Music?" I said, "I forgot about that."

Tears came out of my eyes. She came and cradled me like Soda would do. She said, "Listen, I know we just met, but do you want to be friends?"

I nodded my head. The rest of the day she helped me get unpacked. When we were almost done, I noticed a letter at the bottom of my suitcase.

I opened it up and it read,
"Dear Scar, I know you weren't expecting this letter, but I wanted you to know that we will always love you. If you ever have a problem, just call home. The gang and I love you very much. I hope you enjoy being at your new home. Please mail very soon!

I folded it up, and put it in the drawer beside my bed. Alyssa said, "So, let me tell you about our morning routine."

I said, "Ok?" She said, "We all get up at 8:00. We go downstairs and eat breakfast, than one at a time we each brush our teeth. Usually she starts from smallest to largest, so you will brush your teeth after Faith. Than, when your turn is over you get dressed. You cannot make any phone calls unless Miss Ashley says you can."

I said, "Ok." She said, "We only have free days on the weekends, so tomorrow I can take you shopping. We can have a girls day." I smiled and said, "I would like that."

She said, "Usually on a free day, you have only two hours to spend. So, we cannot take forever on just clothes."

I nodded my head. She continued, "Than when we get home, we have to do chores. We eat supper and brush our teeth like the morning routine except for night time we switch the routine largest to smallest, and than we go to bed."

I said, "Ok." She said, "I'll take you to the mall tomorrow. Faith can spend the day with Mia." I smiled and said, "Goodnight Alyssa." She said, "Goodnight."

We each shut our eyes and went to sleep. Maybe this new home won't be so bad after all.
