Song: Circles by Pierce The Veil (I need to listen to their new album, I'm slacking)
----------
"What the hell did you do?" I ask and snatch my phone from his hand.
"I did you a favor," he says calmly. "The lady I talked to was super nice about it and then she let me talk to your dad—"
"You did what?" I yell. "You talked to my dad? Why?"
"He was worried about you," he replies. "Calm down, Maggie. You're making a big deal out of it."
Inhale through the nose, exhale through the mouth.
I repeat the steps a couple of times until I feel calm enough to talk. "Since I'm sick and you're my fake boyfriend, you have certain duties."
Tyler snickers.
"Duties?" I question.
He nods and laughs more.
"You're such a child." I grab his wrist and tug him towards my bedroom. "You have to take care of me now."
We enter my room and I pull off my blazer. "I do like the sound of that," he says.
I roll my eyes and drop his hand. "Stay there," I tell him and walk back into my closet. The shirt I was wearing earlier is still on the floor, so I pick it up and change into it. My work clothes stay on the floor and I exit in only a t-shirt that comes mid-thigh and underwear.
Tyler's eyes widen. "Okay, this is going better than I expected."
"You don't expect much," I mumble and undo the bobby pins so my hair falls out of the obnoxiously tight bun. "If I'm taking the day off, I'm sleeping. That's where you come in." Reaching forward, I grab his hand and drag him to my bed.
"Usually I wouldn't question when a girl drags me to her bed," he starts, "but since it's you, I'm really going to question it."
I actually laugh. "Just lay here."
He's skeptical, but lays down on the bed without asking. I walk to the other side and climb under the blankets, letting my head sink into the pillow. A sigh escapes my lips and I flip on my side to face him. "Sing me to sleep."
"Totally not what I had in mind," he says and folds an arm behind his head. "But I'm warning you now, if your ears start bleeding, I'm not paying your medical bills."
I touch his free arm. "A little less talking, a little more singing."
Tyler scoffs dramatically. "Someone is super needy today."
"Shhh. It's gonna happen."
"Fine," he breathes. "What song?"
"Any," I answer. "Don't let me sleep too late because I need to pick Ella up at two."
"You got it, Kitten."
I close my eyes and wait for him to sing. I'm sure he's building up the dramatics because it is Tyler after all.
His singing starts out slow...soft, and like velvet to my ears. I don't open my eyes to give him the satisfaction that his singing again caused chills.
Tyler's a full blown liar about not being able to sing well.
I listen to the sound of his voice, remembering the smooth notes and imbedding them into my mind.
