Song: Silence (Pretending's More Comfortable) by AS IT IS
----------
"Where do you wanna sit?" Tyler asks as we enter the theater.
I shrug. "Somewhere in the middle is fine."
We walk up the stairs and slide into the middle row. The theater's not that full since this movie has been out for a few weeks now. There are people in front of us and people a few rows back. We get situated and Tyler lays his hand on my thigh, palm up. I smile when I catch the hint and slide my fingers between his. "I can't believe you actually dragged me to a zombie movie for a date."
Tyler chuckles. "But if you get scared, I get to hold you."
"Isn't that the oldest trick in the book? And does it actually work?"
"Yes, and I haven't actually tried it out...this will be the ultimate test."
"I won't get scared, Tyler. Zombies don't scare me. None of it scares me at all. If anything, I'm going to be the one holding you."
He shakes his head. "Not gonna happen."
The lights dim and the trailers start playing first off. None of the movies look interesting, but Tyler is literally bouncing out of his seat when the new Marvel movie pops up. He's already told me I'm going with him to see it.
When the movie finally starts, everything's dark and quiet. You can hear crickets. A person is trailing through the woods with a shotgun slung over his shoulder. His beard is long and untamed. Dirt covers his face as he continues stalking through. On his way, he's marking trees to make sure he doesn't get turned around.
Then I hear the groaning and the snapping of sticks.
The burly man spins around and raises his gun in the direction he hears it. But then there's another one behind him. He shoots the one in front of him and then twists to shoot the other one.
And then he's swarmed.
They're all around him and there's no way he's getting out of it. He panics and starts shooting, knocking them all down until his gun has run dry of bullets. He tries to push his way through, but one snags his elbow and he falls to the ground.
The man screams as they descend on him. As he still screams, the screen goes black.
Cheesy.
I glance at Tyler and he notices. He leans down to my ear and whispers, "I could totally save you from all those Zombies."
I look at him and raise my brows. "I can do it, thank you very much. I'm perfectly capable of saving myself."
Tyler gasps. "But what about me?"
"Save yourself since you're so capable," I reply and look back to the movie.
"Excuse me for being chivalrous, Mags."
I hold back a laugh and turn to him again. "It's very nice of you to offer to kill zombie for me, I'll remember it forever. But I know what I'm doing."
"Okay, then how do you kill a zombie so it doesn't come back?"
I open my mouth to reply with the answer, but I don't know it exactly. So I guess. "The heart."
Tyler actually laughs out loud. "You'd be dead in five minutes."
My mouth falls open and I slap his arm. "No, I would not."
