QUICK NOTE: Half is in Maggie's point of view, the other is in Tyler's.

-----------

I press my cheek to the cool tile and exhale slowly.

One whiff of pepperoni pizza sent me running to the bathroom, doubling over with nausea. My temples throb and my stomach is swarming to settle. I squeeze my eyes shut for a moment, opening them again in time for Tyler to be standing at the edge of the bathroom.

"Are the meds not helping?" He asks calmly and steps into the bathroom. He lowers down to his knees in front of me.

I shake my head. It's a minor lie. The medicine is for cold and flu, which is not the case. I just can't tell him that yet. Ella's the only one that knows right now and it's going to stay that way for a bit. "My head is spinning," I say quietly.

Tyler gives me a sad smile and easily scoops me into his arms. He walks me back into our bedroom, sliding onto the bed with me still in his arms. He's sitting up and I curl against him with my face pressed against his neck. He strokes my back and eases up to the back of my neck. He kneads his fingers against my skin and the tension releases.

"Why won't you go to the doctor?" He questions.

"I have," I reply. Another minor lie. I have been to the doctor, just not the one he's thinking of. I've never had to keep secrets from Tyler in years. The last secret I think I had was when I told him about the ugly scar on my chest three years ago and now we're engaged to be married in the summer. "I'm getting better," I add.

Tyler hums, not completely believing me.

This time, my stomach turns at the thought of Tyler learning about what's really going on. I don't know what he'll do.

"Get some rest," he whispers. "We'll get you all better."

"Where's Ella?"

"Jasper's I think," he says. "Go to sleep. I got you."

My lips curl into a smile and the tightness in my stomach loosens. It only takes five more minutes until I'm lost to sleep.

***

Most mornings like clockwork.

I wake to my stomach turning and then I kneel in the bathroom to empty the contents of it. Sometimes Tyler's there and sometimes he's gone before I wake up, which is good because I can lie to him and tell him I haven't been getting sick. Lucky for me, he's already gone to a meeting with their management to plan a tour.

A tour I'm dreading. A tour I want Tyler to go on, but I don't know how he's going to react to my news.

I clean up once I'm stable on my feet. Take a quick shower, brush my hair, and get ready for work. It's a stupid idea, because I know I'm not going to make it a whole day without getting nauseated again, but I have to try.

Ella's already gone to school I notice because her room is empty as I walk by.

I'm about to make it out the front door with my photography gear, but Tyler's stepping through the door with furrowed brows. "Are you going back to work today?"
