Song: Disconnected by 5 Seconds of Summer (There's a certain line I wrote that made me think of this song...Hence the title lol. I still love it tbh.)
-------------------------
I used to love Friday's.
It's too tempting to rip my hair out when I park my car in front of my apartment building. I have to sit there for a few minutes, willing away the anger that pulls at my skin. Closing my eyes, I take a deep breath and exhale slowly. I repeat the process a few times before grabbing my bag and climbing out of the car.
My heels click against the pavement and echo's when I walk up the concrete stairs. I just wanna vent and then wallow in self pity. And get these stupid heels off and my favorite white blouse that now has a giant coffee stain on it.
I unlock the apartment door and step inside. The quiet is a relief for my throbbing temples. I slink towards my room and push the door open to be greeted with my favorite blue haired boy with his favorite gaming system in my bed.
Lifting my bag from my shoulder, I hold it high off the ground and let it drop loudly to the floor.
Tyler doesn't flinch.
I kick off my heels and throw off my blazer before falling face first into my bed.
My cheeks are still burning. "I don't understand why my dad hires awful people," I grumble. "Today has been absolutely horrible. First, I spill hot coffee on my favorite shirt that wasn't even my fucking coffee. Kelly, the one it was for, was a complete bitch about it. I was nice enough to offer to get her coffee and it literally ended up in my face. Then she broke the copier by overloading it. She expected me to fix it, knowing damn well I don't know shit about that machine. She tried bringing up the coffee incident again and I told her to shove the coffee up her ass and I—" I stop and my gaze lifts to Tyler.
He's completely immersed in his game.
It's quiet again and I sigh.
"Why'd you stop?" He asks, hitting a button quickly.
"You weren't listening," I say softly.
"Oh, no, I was," he says quickly. "I was waiting to hear what happened after you told her to shove the coffee where the sun doesn't shine."
A small smile makes its way onto my lips. Tyler has a funny way of showing that he's actually listening. But knowing he's listening is enough for me.
I crawl towards the top of the bed and sit up on my knees closer to him. "Can I watch?" I ask and remove the bobby pins from my bun so my hair falls on my back.
"Watch what?" His brows narrow as he starts angrily hitting buttons.
"Watch you play."
He only glances at me and a smile curves the corner of his mouth. "You don't even have to ask." Then he frees an arm to open it for me. I move closer, laying on my side and resting my head on his shoulder.
Tyler's arm goes around my shoulders and he clutches the system in both hands again. I watch as he plays, not even knowing what he's actually playing, but it's entertaining. We've spent days like this, but I usually fall asleep on him...literally. "I'm sorry you had a bad day," he says.
"I'm just so tired," I tell him and kiss the side of his neck. "Being here is making it better." Another kiss to his neck, right below the sensitive spot behind his ear. "You're actually my favorite place." I linger near his ear, my lips brushing over softly before I whisper, "I love you."
