"Oh, no no no," Mason says quickly. "You can't forget about Evan falling in the urinal because he was too drunk to stand."
Val's beer shoots out of her mouth before she can stop it.
My stomach is in knots from laughing so hard. Tyler's been laughing harder because he's not even making any noise, but I feel him shake because of my position on his lap. We're all sharing tour stories and reliving memories we wish we could live in the moment again. Well, except Evan falling in his own piss.
The party dissipated about an hour ago and I'm pretty sure the sun will rise soon.
Evan's so flustered, he can barely form a sentence. "You know what? Screw you guys," he says instead. "What about Tyler getting stuck in the tree at that camp we played at? Yeah, forget about that?"
You can't embarrass Tyler. It's impossible. Maybe I could do it if I tried hard enough, but I draw a blank on anything that would do the job. "Shit, I forgot about that," Tyler says. "Dude, that camp was the best. What was the name of it again? Because we have to go back there."
"Sparrow Lake Camp," Lucy says. "If you love it so much, why don't you move there?"
Tyler reaches around me to grab the beer from the table. "You know what? Maybe I will. At least they liked me there unlike you guys."
"You'd definitely fit in," I say jokingly. "Except I think the seven year olds are more mature than you."
His arm tightens around my waist. "You'd miss me and you know it."
"Maybe," I tease and take the beer from his hand to take a sip. I end up taking more than a sip though.
When I hand it back, he downs the rest and slides it onto the table. "You did leave me in that tree," he grumbles.
"But you weren't alone," I add. "You had a friend."
"Yeah and the whole time we were talking about our girlfriends murdering us," he says dully.
"In my defense, you were the one that climbed up that tree and got stuck."
"To save that kid!" He protests. "I was trying to be the hero."
Everyone around the table starts laughing.
"For one," I start, "he was nineteen, not nine. I don't think calling him a kid is necessary."
Tyler groans. "I told you, anyone younger than me is a kid."
I slightly turn in his lap so I can face him. "I'm younger than you, dumbass. Does that mean you look at me like a kid?"
"Hell no," he says quickly. "You're my girlfriend, which means you're the exception to all of my stupid thinking." After he finishes, he gives me a huge childish grin.
I snort. "That's a lot."
He nods. "Believe me, I know. I can't help it."
Instead of answering him, I stand from his lap and hold my hand out to him. "Come on. I gotta be at work in a few hours and I need sleep."
"So demanding," he teases and takes my hand.
After we tell everyone good night, I lead Tyler out of the apartment and we walk down one level to get to mine. I open the door and let Tyler in first before following, letting the door shut behind me. We continue our way into my room and Tyler's ahead, so I shut the door behind me. I find the lamp on my bedside table and turn it on. The room has a dim glow, but it's enough to see.
